Two adopted friends joke for 9 years that they’re related then find out they actually are
This is crazy.

“There’s absolutely no way her and I could be sisters. There’s no way!”

That’s what Cassandra Madison kept telling herself after she met a woman who bore an uncanny resemblance to her. But, like Jeff Goldblum’s character, Dr. Ian Malcolm, famously said in Jurassic Park – life finds a way!

Cassandra Madison, 32, and Julia Tinetti, 31, first met in 2013 while they were both working at the Russian Lady bar in New Haven, Connecticut.

They were friends and co-workers long before a DNA test said otherwise.

They became fast friends after Julia noticed the Dominican Republic flag tattooed on Cassandra’s arm. Julia showed her coworker her own Dominican tat, and shared that she had been adopted from the DR as a baby.

Cassandra wrote on Facebook:

“I stop her in her tracks and tell her I’m adopted from there too. We become friends, start wearing matching clothes, having a blast together and telling everyone “we’re sisters.'”

It turns out that the two had lots of things in common.

They were both adopted from the Dominican Republic, raised by single moms, had tattoos of their home country, and worked at the same bar.

Even though they were totally kidding about being related, family and friends were constantly telling the pair they looked too much alike for it to be a coincidence.

“Soooo we work together, and just found out were both adopted from DR .. Resemblance ? I want a DNA test! Lol”

The friends never thought to take a DNA test for real, because their adoption paperwork didn’t match.

It erroneously showed that their birth moms had different last names, but unbeknownst to them, it was inaccurate.

Cassandra told Good Morning America that she thought Julia was cool when they first met. They just “kind of hit it off right away, it was very natural.”

They were playing the role of siblings without even realizing how true it actually was!

The women started to hang out together, dressed alike, and called each other “sister twins.” They even sported matching big sister/little sister t-shirts when they went out!

“Could we be related?”

A couple of years ago Cassandra searched for and found her biological family. It was then that she discovered that her father had given up two baby girls for adoption way back when.

“He said, ‘It was just a difficult time for your mom and I. So, I don’t like to talk about it. I don’t like to think about it.'”

Fate brought the sisters together 8 years ago in that bar in Connecticut, and now she was finally ready to reveal the truth to the unsuspecting siblings.

The two decided to take a 23andMe DNA test to settle the matter once and for all!

All they had to do was endure the agonizing wait for the results to come back in the mail.

The “pretend” sisters discovered that they were actually 100% real sisters who shared both the same birth mom AND dad!

“I jump in my car last minute and drove to CT to get her to do 23andme and the results came back yesterday. WE ARE SISTERS! Same mom, same dad! Just two girls who happen to work together find out they’re sisters. I love you, twin!”
