Not all cops are bad cops. While it’s true that some officers take advantage of their badges, there are still plenty of good-natured cops out there who stand by their sworn oath – that is to protect and to serve.

There are a lot of police officers that have gone viral for their act of kindness, especially if they have done something beyond their line of duty. Most of them have helped those who are in need, even if it meant taking some time off their personal time or even getting money out of their own pockets.

One of those officers is Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Bradley Sanders.

Officer Sanders has been recently making headlines due to an act of kindness that he did weeks ago. He was doing his usual rounds when he pulled over a mother driving with his toddler.

The mother, Nina Sumter, was on her way to her son’s doctor appointment when officer Sanders pulled them over. Upon seeing that her son wasn’t seating on a car seat, he gave her three tickets. After serving the tickets, officer Sanders asked Nina to follow him.

Little did she know, the kind-hearted trooper was on his way to buy his son a new car seat.

In a Facebook post, Nina shared her overwhelming gratitude to the police officer who surprisingly bought her son a brand new car seat using his own money.

Sanders then told WAPT that after writing the citations, he got a call from his wife which led him to do what he felt deep down in his heart. So, he asked Nina and her son to follow him to Walmart.

“She was very grateful. She was saying, ‘Thank you,’ and she understood that the traffic stop was legitimate. She had no issue with what was going on,” Sanders said. “She did state she was trying to do the best she could with her son being in the car seat that he was in.”

The overjoyed mom then took a photo of officer Sanders and his son at the checkout counter, and his son’s gleeful expression is priceless.

Nina will still have to appear in court in January next year, but Sanders mentioned that there’s a huge chance that her tickets will be dismissed.

It’s truly amazing to see people helping one another, especially what Officer Sanders did. He still followed the law and lectured Nina about the traffic rules and of course what needs to be done to ensure the safety of his son, Kaemon.

Still, he chose to follow his instincts and acted on what his heart was telling him to do.

“Overwhelmingly, there are great cops out there. Are there a few bad apples out there? I am sure. But most of us got into this profession to help people, as I did myself,” Sanders said. “I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I wanted to help.”
