A lot of homeowners take a lot of pride in keeping their home pretty, and if they’ve got green fingers – a garden is where they spend a lot of their free time. After all, you can do so many amazing things and your garden and truly transform it into a great place to hang out. Planting new flowers, creating a dedicated barbecue spot or outdoor bar, adding some garden furniture or lights, you can just about do anything with the right mindset and a splash of creativity.
This husband decided to start with a small project involving an ugly tree stump in the garden. It was inconvenient, large, and just dull to look at, so he and his wife decided to turn it into something eye-catching.
In fact, you could even say it’s the absolute centerpiece of the entire garden now!
The man and his wife, a lovely couple from Tennessee, wanted to transform this tree stump into a piece of art, and they did so with some special people in mind: the garden gnomes! These adorable and mythical gnomes are widespread and can be found in many gardens all over the world, but it does make you wonder if they actually had a warm home with a roof over their head.
The couple decided to build their very own ‘Gnome House’ – and they already had the ugly tree stump as the foundation.
Mimi and her husband actually built the house in the front yard for everyone to see – and it certainly has managed to turn a lot of heads of passerby’s and drivers. Luckily, Mimi also captured some footage and put it on YouTube for all of us to see as well.
It all started when Mimi’s husband told her that they needed to cut down a dead tree, and immediately a lightbulb went off in her head.
“It all started in April when hubby told me he needed to cut down a dead tree,” she recalls.
After their kids left the house, Mimi and her husband actually got a lot more creative with their newfound free time. She runs a YouTube channel where she regularly posts videos and content about crafting, decoration, and even recipes sometimes. Furthermore, her videos are always accessible – anyone could follow the video and do it themselves.
Their garden gnome house video is by far the most popular one on the channel, with almost four million views!
“A project hubby and I have started a couple months ago. I put the finishing touches on it this weekend. I thought you would like to see what we created,” she wrote as the video caption.
The home isn’t particularly big – after all, its inhabitants aren’t either, but it is certainly a really cool and stunning piece of art. The cedar shake roof was probably the most time-consuming part, as every single roof tile has been made by hand.
Of course, the finishing touches are just as important as the main structure – and that’s where Mimi comes in.
The place is decorated in a lovely manner, with little lamps and lanterns everywhere. The whole house just looks absolutely adorable and cute, and everyone can’t help but look at this garden gnome house.
Some viewers were even inspired by the video, and know what to do when they’ve got an ugly tree stump in their garden.
“Absolutely brilliant idea. I’ve helped my dad pull several stumps in my life and this is such a great idea instead of all the grueling work involved in pulling them. I want to do this so bad now,” one commenter said.
