It’s good to hear that an actor did something kind without the intention of ever being discovered for it.
For us “regular” people who aren’t in headlining movies or wearing multi-million dollar dresses, knowing that even the most famous people can treat people with kindness gives us a bit of hope.
A recent example of that happened when the world’s most famous mustache decide to copy something he saw a friend do.

One of the more popular shows on TV is the show Blue Bloods.
It shows the lives of a multi-generational family working in the NYPD. While the plot isn’t all that important for our purposes today, two of the actors are!
Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg star in the show and play the roles of a father-son duo.

As a result, the two know each other more than just casually!
Donnie Wahlberg decided he was going to do something to close out the crazy year of 2020 (this was in December) and wrote a wild tip amount on a restaurant bill.
Donnie ended up tipping $2,020 (for the year 2020) on a bill that was only $35.27!
2020 was a rough year for a lot of people, especially those in the food industry. Forbes states:
“The industry ended 2020 with total sales around $659 billion, or $240 billion below the association’s pre-pandemic forecast–underscoring the effects of a relentless virus that has caused 110,000-plus closures, shifted operational models entirely and created deep trepidation about dining out. “
As a result, servers, waiters, and local owners suffered.
Donnie thought that his small contribution could really help out a stranger!
After Tom Sellack saw his co-star gift the waiter, he decided to do the same.
At Elio’s, a restaurant in NYC, Tom added his own $2,020 tip to a bill that was $204. In the margins, he added a note that read:
“I am honoring my friend Donnie Wahlberg’s ‘Tip Challenge’ with my sincere hope for a better 2020. Thank you all.”
It was an incredibly kind gesture and one that was likely a life-saver for the recipient.
When Donnie heard about it, he was proud to have helped make an impact through his influence.
“I didn’t start it but I’m proud to be a part of it,” Donnie clarified on Twitter.
“Tom never mentioned it to me,” he says. “We’ve done three [Blue Bloods] dinner scenes since he did it and he never told me.”
With all the things people have gone through the past two years, it’s nice to see a bit of kindness!
It’s also a reminder to us all that we can all do something.
Does that mean we have to tip $2,021 every meal we eat?
No, definitely not! It does mean that we can do our best to take care of each other, however.
