A simple act of play on behalf of a child is responsible for saving the life of an 82-year-old Georgia woman.
A 1 1/2-year-old boy named Ethan was playing in the backyard of his Senoia home with his mom Brittany Moore and their dog.
They were blowing bubbles when the boy and his dog chased after them.
Something caught Ethan’s eye when he reached the fence.
“I went over there and was like, ‘What do you see buddy?’ and he pointed and said, ‘Feet,'” Brittany told WLKY. “‘Okay, buddy can you say that again. What did you say?’ And he said, ‘Feet.'”
But Brittany couldn’t see anything except a bunch of trees.
She then crouched down to meet his vantage point.
“If you get on his level and look through you can see some of the broken stick,” Brittany told CBS46 Atlanta. “And that’s where she was laying.”
Brittany said she had a moment of panic before she called 911.
Emergency responders confirmed that the feet belonged to 82-year-old Nina Lipscomb.
Lipscomb, who suffers from early onset Alzheimer’s, had been missing for four days. Thankfully, she was conscious but still disoriented.
She was visiting family and wandered off to look for her sister.
“Her sister lived here in this house, but she passed away in March but growing up they lived on Glacier Road which is just around the corner,” Karen Lipscomb, Nina’s daughter, said.
The community and authorities had searched a 5 and 10-mile radius looking for her and couldn’t find her.
“We pulled out every resource we thought we needed but it was a little boy and she’s very fond of children,” said Karen Lipscomb, Nina’s daughter, said.
Nina’s family said that the little boy likely saved her life.
Nina got to meet her tiny hero after being released from the hospital.
“Thank you for your Christian walk,” Karen told Brittany after giving Ethan some new bubbles. “I recognized it right off. The story of bubbles is so pure and innocent and yet effective.”
The Lipscomb family offered the Moore family reward money for finding their mother.
The Moores, however, refused it.
“I truly think this was something outside of what any human could do,” said Brittany said. “It took a child who was being worked by God. We will always teach him what he did, how he played an impact in it.”
The story of the little boy who saved a life through play ended up going viral.
A video of the story was viewed more than 215,000 times on CBS 46 Atlanta.
“You know, children have eagle eyes and a brain that is not cluttered with a Do It List. If you want to find anything, ask a child. What a miracle she was found by this smart, eagle-eyed little boy scout! What a wonderful child. Get him a big ice cream cone for his good work and give him a hug from me. Greetings from California. I am so relieved this lady was found, Hallelujah!!!” one person commented on the video.
“Sometimes you just have to look from a child’s level,” said another.
