A toddler named Kh’amorion Taylor returned home safe and sound thanks to a neighbor and a stray dog who remained with him.

Taylor spent Thursday morning roaming the streets of a north St. Louis City neighborhood alone. A neighbor saw the little boy as she was walking her dogs that morning.

Kh’amorion was wearing his pajamas but the most surprising part was a stray pit bull who looked to be protecting him.

“He looked well taken care of, he was very neat, very clean; he just didn’t have the shoes on,” the neighbor told Fox 2.

The neighbor, who chose to remain anonymous, spent the next few hours searching for the boy’s home and his parents.

“I knocked on the doors up and down the street. Knocked on the doors, no answers; no one who did answer, they didn’t recognize the child,” she recalled.

She walked and walked for hours until Taylor’s dad saw his son’s photo on social media.

He quickly arrived to pick up his son. There are no details as to how the boy managed to get so far, but the parents are lucky a kind soul was there for their son.

“Because it takes a village and children, especially, are innocent,” she said.

“It is important that we stick together, that we help each other, that we go back to the things that our grandparents and their community used to do,” she added. “That we build a sense of unity.”

It was the dog young Kh’amorion couldn’t forget. He kept saying the word “puppy”, almost like he wanted the dog to come home with him. They didn’t adopt the dog but the St. Louis police considered taking in the pooch.

The Taylor boy was reunited with his family. And the dog soon found a family of its own!

Pit Bulls aren’t dangerous.

Peri the chicken was only a few days old when she adopted by Christa Hubbard and her family. The chicken was healthy until six months later when she contracted an eye infection. Doctors informed Christa that the chicken would go blind inevitably.

The family’s pit bull, Taj, helped the family make the necessary adjustments to make Peri’s life easier.

Peri did go blind eventually and somehow, the dog knew something was off. Taj became guardian and protector for the blind chicken.

Taj and Peri spent the next eight years as the best of friends. The chicken had a seeing-eye dog. Not something you’d read everyday. Taj died in July of 2018 after a brave battle with cancer.

The Hubbards went ahead and adopted two pit bull puppies so Peri could have new dog friends.

Gracie, one of the pit bulls, took on the role of Peri’s protector. Whatever hole Taj left in Peri’s heart, Gracie filled it with her presence. It may seem unlikely to see a dog and a chicken becoming the best of friends. But that’s why dogs are amazing.
