Spend wisely. We all want to save a buck or two especially when doing the groceries. The Deal Guy found the top ten items you should be buying at Costco. And he explains why. Saran wrap
It’s known by that name because of the Saran brand owned by SC Johnson. The difference is the price. A two-pack of 750 foot rolls of Costco’s Kirkland Signature Stretch-Tite Plastic Food Wrap sells for $9.88. For 1,500 square feet of plastic wrap? You bet! Other stores sell 200 square feet for around $5.
Dish detergent pods
Kirkland Premium Dishwasher Pacs are a fraction of the price compared to national brands. So that’s $9.78 for 115 pods which is 9 cents per load whereas it’s 25 cents per load with other brands.
Snacks
Diet or not, for school or at work, we all need snacks. Kind bars are at 95 cents each at Costco. Walmart sells them for $1.19. M&M’s are at 17 cents per ounce compared to Walmart’s 24. Mott’s are at 11 cents. Double that at Walmart. That’s not all if you listen to Matt. Got your attention?
Eggs
Kirkland’s Signature Organic Eggs are under $6 for 24 eggs. That’s about 25 cents per egg as compared to 43 cents at the local grocery store. You get more protein for a cheaper price.
Tide Laundry Detergent
The pods are 18 cents per load. Target has them at 22 cents per load. On Amazon, they go for 25 cents.
Trash Bags
The industrial grade bags are made with commercial enterprises in mind. Other brands will tell you that they have another version that’s stronger, while these offer odor control minus Febreze or what not. The best part is they are up to 30% less. Check out the bags for kitchens. They come out so easily and once you have your garbage inside, they tie up with no fuss.
Bacon
Kirkland Signature Bacon is a winner according to consumers. It balances out all the flavors really well. Nothing else has to be said. It’s bacon!
Cheese
Parmesan cheese more specifically. The Whole Wheel Parmigiano Reggiano is $900. Per pound, they go for $12.50. Taste tests revealed that they are just as good as other top brands. Now go back and get those bacon and eggs.
Ziploc
Not Kirkland’s version. The actual Ziploc. Costco has a partnership with them which means the gallon freezer bags are 10 cents per bag or less. Walmart has them at 16 cents.
Maple Syrup
Costco has a massive following in Canada. Real Canadian maple syrup. The quality is way above its competitors at 40% less. You read that right. Bacon, eggs, cheese, and pancakes? Please send me an invitation.
Matt shares a few bonus items that will have you salivating. Bakery muffins are at 65 cents each whereas in Walmart, they’re at $1.08. Kirkland cheesecake go for 19 cents per ounce versus 35 cents at Walmart. Croissants go for 42 cents each while Walmart has them at around 65 or more.
The alcoholic in you will love Costco too. They carry the good stuff at cheaper prices. And what goes well with booze? How about turkey? Matt swears they’re really good. Headed out for Costco yet?
