Most people who would happen to drive past a burning home would consider calling 911, but many of them wouldn’t because they would think someone else must have already called.

Even fewer would stop by to see if someone needed their help and only a couple of them would actually take action and go check if there were residents who were trapped inside the burning home.

Or, to be precise, three of them. Namely, Chase Adams, Colin Anderson, and Ethan Morche.

The three teens, who are lifelong friends and just happened to be driving by a burning home in Livonia, Michigan, a few days ago

The friends were returning from the store, when they saw smoke in a neighborhood they were passing by. Although at first, it looked like a bonfire, they soon realized it was something much more serious.

“We were just coming back from the store, we noticed a lot of smoke from down the street. we thought it was a bonfire, then noticed smoke coming out of the ceiling,” Chase Adams told FOX 2.

The boys couldn’t just leave, so they pulled over, and called 911. At the same time, they approached the burning building, trying to see if there were people trapped in there.

Soon, they realized there were actually people inside, and they just couldn’t ignore them. They had to rescue them.

“The front door didn’t open, so we ran around back. They were both (in) there yelling saying, ‘My house is on fire,’” Adams said. “We saw flames through the windows out of the garage and flames coming out of where the shingles meet.”

So, the teenagers got inside looking for the trapped residents. With flames around them and smoke in their eyes and throat, it was not an easy thing to do.

The boys saved the man first, and then Morche went back inside to look for the elderly woman. His friends were worried about him as he was spending more time inside the burning building.

“We thought we lost him in the house,” Anderson said. “What if he didn’t get out? Smoke in his lungs. So when he did come out, it was a big relief.”

Mother and son were both rescued thanks to the three friends, and soon the paramedics arrived and treated the older residents for mild smoke inhalation.

Livonia Fire Chief Robert Jennison praised the three boys for their courage and bravery, and he said he hopes they consider a career as firefighters.

The boys’ parents are also proud of them. First of all, they are glad they are safe, and they are happy their children went above and beyond to save two strangers’ lives.

“They just did what they needed to do, and we’re just so proud of them,” Julie Adams said.

As the boys said, they couldn’t drive away without helping those people. They wouldn’t have it any other way and this is amazing.
