We can all remember being obsessed with a show when we were kids. Maybe you liked something really niche, or maybe, like most kids, you were obsessed with superheroes.
Grayson, one four-year-old little boy, is a superhero fanatic. He can’t get enough of them, and has superhero toys, clothes, movies – the whole lot.
Like all children, Grayson deserves a loving, carefree childhood – and his parents try their best to give it to him.
But life hasn’t been easy for Grayson’s parents, Alicia and Aaron. Alicia already had a multiple sclerosis diagnosis, and now she was dealing with cancer.
Battling a rare form of lymphoma, the last thing Alicia could prioritize was making money. This frustrated her, as we all know that while money can’t buy happiness, it can pay for experiences that your kids will remember forever.
After struggling to come up with ideas for Grayson’s birthday, Alicia thought, what the heck.
She decided to stop searching for expensive entertainment she couldn’t afford, and instead took to Facebook, asking for help from the moms of kids at Lake Stevens High School.
Speaking to KOMO News, she recalled:
“I just posted on Facebook, like Stevens moms, and asked if one of their high schoolers would be willing to dress as a superhero. I’d buy the costume for $20.”
Alicia had only expected a single student to show up – but her expectations were about to be hugely exceeded.
It turns out that a group of kids, mostly seniors, all heard about Alicia’s request and wanted to help.
The high school football players, including Dallas Landeros, Junior Robinson, and Devin Kylany, all have good hearts, according to their coach, Eric Dinwiddy.
The nine students ended up joining together to pull off the best birthday surprise ever.
On the day of Grayson’s birthday, a car pulled up close by to where the celebrations were happening.
Out stepped Batman… then Thor… then Iron Man. Frozone was also there, and Spiderman. Pretty much every single well-known superhero gathered together, preparing for a joint mission like no other.
A few minutes later, the superheroes were transported to Grayson’s house.
The moment he saw his new guests, Grayson toddled off towards them, shouting out their names in awe.
You’d expect a group of teenage boys to be too embarrassed to embody their superhero characters, but not these guys.
When Grayson walked over to Spiderman, he handed him a present, saying:
“Hi, little guy. Happy birthday.”
Grayson was clearly overwhelmed, but in the best way possible.
The superheroes accompanied him as he headed back to the scene of his party – and here, they had another surprise waiting for the lucky birthday boy.
The team’s coach, Eric, had arranged for presents to be bought and wrapped, fit for a little budding superhero.
Later, Grayson was given his own mask and a cape, making him a part of his new crew.
But, eventually, all good things have to come to an end, and the superheroes said their goodbyes.
While the boys might look big, tough and intimidating when they’re on the pitch, Grayson’s family knows better.
Underneath it all, these guys are just a bunch of sweet-hearted softies!
