Teenagers have a bad reputation for being lazy, addicted to their phones, and spending far too much time hanging outside the home.

While all of that could be true, we recall a saying that you should never look down on someone because of their age.

Some teenagers are truly making a difference.

Ryan Cook and his two friends, Joshua Mechell and Alberto Montiel are only a few of these youths that are doing goodwill.

The three boys were at their neighborhood Chick-fil-A in Corpus Christi, Texas.

They noticed a homeless man counting change, struggling to buy a meal.

“He had a worn bible on the table with a picture of Jesus and some change he was counting,” Ryan wrote in a Facebook post that has now gone viral.

According to the fast-food restaurant employee, the homeless man, Eddie, came in all the time. But he didn’t bother anyone or ask for handouts except for when he is looking for water for his dog Sock.

Because their hearts were broken for Eddie, the teenagers went above and beyond to bless him.

Ryan mentioned that he had a Bible and a picture of Jesus on the table, which he believed was a sign for them to help him.

They decided to get Eddie a Chick-fil-A gift card and then went to a nearby Dick’s Sporting Goods.

They bought Eddie a jacket, a beanie, three shirts, and a first aid kit. Then Dick’s donated some of their display items and shared $20 toward their purchase.

The exchange between Eddie and his new friends in the viral video has now been viewed more than 13 million times.

It is so heartwarming, not to mention Chick-fil-A’s Christian instrumentals in the background. It’s adding that final touch of Jesus to a wonderful situation.

Eddie was astounded by this group of teens’ gestures.

After they gave him the items, Eddie said that it was almost like Christmas because he didn’t get anything for Christmas this year.

“Just think of it as a late Christmas present,” Ryan replied.

Ryan Cook was nineteen years old when his video went viral.

The teens stated that they had not intended to post the video on social media.

But they hoped that it would inspire others to give back and care for one another.

“Just setting an example for everyone else. Be selfless and do good for others, then the world would be a better place for everyone,” Ryan posted.

Many people praised them for their actions.

One person commented,

“How kind of you young men to help someone in need. God bless each of you and God bless this homeless person.”

They are all grateful for being an example to other people especially the youth today.

“What a wonderful thing that y’all did. I have always preached to be kind need generous to others. Thank you for leading by example.”
