Sometimes the bravest and kindest acts, are also the simplest.

Anyone who’s spent any time on the road knows how important stop signs are. They help alert motorists to potential dangers and hazards and do a small but important part in keeping traffic accidents down.

It’s very important to keep these signs standing upright and visible. That’s why this story from Oklahoma is so inspiring.

It all began when a teen saw two cars nearly collide.

In Yukon, Oklahoma, teenager Logan Duncan, was on his lunch break when he saw two cars almost have an accident. When he investigated, he found that a stop sign that was supposed to be there had fallen over.

Now, most civic-minded people would have called it in and went on their way. But Logan decided to take his concern for his fellow Oklahomans to the next level.

Logan picked up that stop sign.

Imagine driving down to the corner of Sara and 29th in Yukon…

It’s 90-degree weather, in the middle of the workday. Whatever you expect to see, it can’t have possibly been a young teen holding a stop sign by hand.

Well, that’s exactly what Randy Jones saw when he reached the corner and saw the teen. He walked up to Logan and asked him what was going on and why he was out there holding a sign.

When Logan told Randy the full story, the man leapt into action.

Randy snapped a cellphone photo of the teen, then contacted Oklahoma city crews. Randy then waited with Logan until city crews came along to repair the sign.

Logan’s kind act struck Randy, since he saw how cars were carefully driving through the intersection.

To top it off, Logan did it with no shade, no water, and for no pay. As Randy said when speaking with News9:

“Not a lot of people would have did what he did, to have the awareness to know to get out and help. It’s pretty cool.”

Randy posted the photo to Facebook and was surprised by the response.

Thanks to Randy’s post, the story was shared over 3,000 times on Facebook. Comments came flooding in with praise for Logan’s courage and kindness, with many even recognizing him as an inspiration.

Randy didn’t know that his post would be shared so far and wide, but he’s glad it has. Because he believes that incredible deeds like Logan’s should be seen and recognized.

But why were Logan’s actions so helpful?

According to a blog post, around 40% of auto accidents happen when motorists ignore stop sign safety. It’s not clear if Logan was aware of these facts, but a stop sign-controlled intersection is more dangerous without a present sign.

And since Randy noticed how careful drivers were when they saw Logan, that young teen may have just done his part in saving lives.
