A group of high school players scored the biggest touchdown of their lives when they helped to save a woman from a car wreck.
The four Rome High School students were driving to school when they spotted the crash.
Treyvon Adams, 16, Antwion Carey, 16, Tyson Brown, 17, and Alto Moore, 16, pulled over to assist crash victims along with Cesar Parker, 16, who was riding in a separate car with his mother.
“We just ran as fast we (could) to the lady and check on her to see if she was alright,” Adams told CNN.
Inside the car was a woman who was trapped inside since her car doors were jammed shut in the crash.
They could see that she was in pain and they had to get her out immediately.
“Smoke started to come out of the car, and fluid started to spill everywhere in the intersection,” Goya said in a Facebook post. “The door was jammed and in terrible shape.”

Math teacher Luis Goya said he was standing in front of the school when he heard the car wreck and called 911.
“The door was jammed and in terrible shape. While I was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, the football players who witnessed the wreck, ran to the car, and started helping the lady. They literally started using their strength to pry the door open, so the lady could be released,” Goya said in a Facebook post.
“After a few seconds of pulling and pushing the door, the boys ended up opening it and helped her get out of the car. She was shaking and still in panic, but our RHS boys gave her comfort and were able to help her.”
The football players realized that they needed to get the opposite door open and used their strength all over again to do so.
“We were all moving very fast to get her out,” Adam said.
They also made sure to check on the driver of the other car.
“The football players … ran to the car and started helping the lady. They literally started using their strength to pry the door open, so the lady could be released. Afterd a few seconds of pulling and pushing the door, the boys ended up opening it and helped her get out of the car,” Goya said according to WSB-TV Atlanta.
The teens were later named honorary first responders for helping to free the trapped 50-year-old woman.
“We are very proud of them,” Goya said. “This is the kind of news that we need, that is more positive. The Rome High School football players really showed up today. They went above and beyond to help this lady without hesitation.”
While the teens said it was nice to see the community show them love, they don’t see themselves as heroes.
“We’ve been recognized in a lot of different ways,” Adams said. “We appreciate it, but I feel we just did the right thing.”
