When we see teachers around the classroom, we tend to paint a certain picture of them in our minds. You know, they are our teachers — so all they do is teach, right? Wrong!
It might initially feel weird to see a teacher break out of their shell and act like “regular people” but when they do, it can be pretty magical.
If you think about it, teachers are kind of like our unsung heroes.
Just when you least expect it, they come out and show us just how smart and/or talented they are. There’s a reason why they started teaching in the first place anyway — because they have the skill to pass on to others!
At a high school in El Paso, Texas, a teacher showed off some serious dance skills.
The entire student body was taken aback when she started to whip out what some young kids might call “fire moves.”
She was actually the high school’s dance teacher so it makes sense that she would be incredible at dancing. But even so, it’s not every day that you even see your dance teacher break out into their very own moves.
In the viral video clip, the teacher is standing next to some students and adults. The crowd is already cheering them on loudly, so it seems like it’s off to a great start.
They dance to “Juju On The Beat” by Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion McCall.
Rocking a casual outfit of black form-fitting pants and an army green button-down shirt, the teacher looks properly in her element.
Anticipating the beat.
Before the dance begins, she gets warmed up and excited as she sways from side to side.
Then the beat drops and it’s all uphill from there. The dance teacher shimmies back and forth, throws in a few kicks, and leans on her fellow students for support.
She throws her hands up in the air, motions around in circles, and even flips her ponytail back and forth.
No matter what kind of hip-hop-inspired dance move she’s doing, it’s full of sass and attitude. And isn’t that what’s most important when it comes to dancing, or really any art form?
Having the ability to really feel what you’re doing and put the passion into it is what matters most. And this teacher was certainly able to do that. You could tell that she was so happy to be there and that she was truly grateful to be dancing among some wonderful teens.
What makes it even better is she became a viral sensation!
The video blew up after it was posted to YouTube, garnering almost 2 million views and tons of comments. Although no one in the comment section knew the teacher personally, they were all cheering her on from afar!
“Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear black shirts and dance like no one is watching,” one person wrote.
“I used to love seeing teachers shock us during pep rallies. You always forgot they have their own lives and talents other than teaching and dealing with badass students all day,” another person said.
“My English teacher won a spelling test,” someone else joked.
