When Shant realized that his girlfriend Lina was THE one for him, he felt ready to take the plunge. With a swelling heart bursting with love, he shopped for the perfect ring that she would stare at and admire once he slipped it on her finger.
He dreamed of how he could pull off the best surprise proposal. He wanted it to be absolutely perfect and to forever be a moment in her life that she would never forget.
So he checked out some videos on YouTube of proposals and found the one he thought Lina would love. It was a flash mob proposal and he fully embraced the idea!
In this video, a man began dancing along with others that segued into a proposal for his girlfriend at Downtown Disney. Shant wanted to design his proposal around one of his favorite places – the high school where he works in Buena Park, California.
“I mentioned my proposal idea to our school dance teacher and asked if she can help. Without hesitation, she said yes. From that point on for the next month, I practiced with her dance team and we came up with a choreography to the song of ‘Will You Marry Me’ by Bruno Mars.”
Shant admitted that he needed some extra practice sessions. The dance teacher thought a flash mob proposal would be best unveiled during the halftime of their school’s varsity basketball game.
“I made up a fake story to get Lina and my parents and brother (all of whom did not know what was about to happen) to the game and told them all that I was going to be presented an award for my work accomplishments. As soon as halftime started and the basketball players cleared the court, the dance team came on and started to dance.”
The dance team often performs, so no one was surprised. But approximately 1.5 minutes into the song, Shant jumped up and sprinted out onto the basketball court and joined in with the dance team.
Lina was completely caught off guard by what her boyfriend was doing. A couple of different cameras were recording at different angles so we can watch Shant dance and Lina’s reactions at the same time.
Their routine is fantastic and everyone in the gym is riveted on their performance. Quite frankly, Shant has some moves!
As soon as their flash mob wrapped up their choreography to many cheers and applause, the dance teacher escorted Lina out onto the basketball court.
That’s when Shant completely stunned Lina as he dropped down on one knee, pulled out the ring box and proposed marriage to his best friend. Thankfully, she elatedly said yes.
Lina’s reaction was absolutely priceless! Surely she was a cheerleader at some point in her life. She literally jumped for joy.
The crowd went wild with applause and cheering. We can see why! This is one impressive proposal!
