One act of kindness can create ripple effects.

Parents, students, and teachers from Pinellas County couldn’t believe the kindness they all saw from a Wal-Mart cashier.

Most of the 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade students of Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Seminole, Florida, were excited as they finished their walk-a-thon.

The group aimed to raise money for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals, also known as SPCA.

With all their efforts, the kids raised $3,500. They reached their goal because the kids pledged their own allowance and asked for donations.

“They blew it out of the park with how much money they brought in,” Leslie Carneiro, one teacher, said.

Raising such an amount made everyone excited, who wouldn’t be? The amount they raised was impressive, but that was not the news that went viral.

They decided to all go to Bay Pines Wal-Mart in Seminole to buy what they need for their cause.

All the kids were so excited!

They were able to fill nine carts with pet necessities and toys. From bird food, kitty litter, paper towels, chew toys, cat food, and more!

Teacher Carneiro, the 26 students, and some parents finally proceeded to the checkout counter.

They paid using the school’s credit card, and when they tried to pay for the rest of the items, their credit card was declined!

It was flagged as a fraud because of the multiple checkouts done in a matter of minutes and the large amount.

The parents were already busy loading the items into their respective cars. Of course, Teacher Carneiro decided to pay for the remaining items, but then she realized something.

The teacher was stunned when she saw she didn’t have her wallet!

“I told Phyllis (the Walmart cashier) let me go run and get some of the parents, I’ll be right back with the wallet and she said ‘no, I’ve got this, please let me do this,’” the teacher told in her interview with ABC.

Cashier Phyllis Collins smiled and said she’ll pay for the remaining items. Those items cost $648! The kind cashier swiped her card and paid for the items.

Amanda Stanganelli, one of the parents, later found out about what happened and she was blown away.

“She did this out of the kindness of her heart. This woman was an angel,” Stanganelli said.

The kids also saw what happened, and they were all moved by the cashier’s kindness.

“She was very nice and generous to us,” Noah Sehner, a third-grader at BSCS, said.

Stranganelli and other parents went back later that day to pay Collins back using the money they raised.

When asked about the reason Collins paid for the items, she explained she didn’t want to see the kids put the items back.

“All she kept saying was she had been blessed in her life and God is good,” Stranganelli shared.

ABC Action News went to Wal-Mart and asked Collins for an interview. Though, the kind woman declined and said that she would prefer it if they would focus on the kids and their organization.

The kids are more motivated than ever!

Seeing kindness gives every one of us a different feeling. A little kind of can spread and create many more positive actions.
