Being homeless can be humiliating and emotionally shattering. Without a place to call your own, it’s easy to feel exposed and alienated.

Prank It FWD and the Ascensia shelter are very familiar with the struggles homeless people deal with every day.

As a way to bring happiness to these less fortunate people, they decided to plan a special surprise for them. It’s a surprise they won’t forget anytime soon.

The group reached out to 30 homeless people.

They told the group that they’ll be having a free meal. Just the idea of having decent food for free was enough to make them feel excited.

However, what they didn’t know was that they were in for a much bigger and fun surprise.

After the participants ate their breakfast, Greg Benson led them to the next room. The host and the entire team have everything in place.

There, manicure stations, showers, and salon chairs, and new clothes were set up for everyone. Even masseuses were waiting for them.

The attendees felt super excited!

Each of them was able to pick out new clothes and even fresh towels and underwear. The masseuses gave them their much-needed relaxation. Their hair and makeup were also done by professionals.

One of the women shared:

“I haven’t been able to afford makeup in about six years, so this feels great.”

It was an extremely emotional day.

Those people experienced more than physical changes. Apart from the new clothes and makeup, they also felt a sudden boost in their confidence. The way they were praising each other on how they looked after was simply heartwarming.

Just when the group thought the day was over, another surprise came in.

Delicious hot meals came. The famous chefs from the Postcards Food Truck arrived to serve the meals to the homeless people.

One of them said:

“We receive a lot, so we have to return a lot.”

It’s all about giving back.

Some of the people who volunteered that day have their own stories to share. One of them was Josef Esfahani, a hairstylist.

He shared:

“I was in the same position as they were many years ago. And, for that, I didn’t forget for all the people that helped me, all my family that helped me, my parents, my sisters. So it’s all about giving back.”

Prank It FWD wrapped up the day with a check donation.

They gave the shelter $3,000. The money should help them in making more homeless people feel loved and valued.

At the end of the event, a man approached the host.

“Somebody cares,” he said to Greg.

To his surprise, the man was actually a Vietnam war veteran. He also shared that he’s not used to any affection and that’s heartbreaking.

The video earned tons of positive comments.

One viewer said:

“I’m glad I watched this video. Initially I was cynical about the spa thing, but, then I remember how I feel after some ragy days and cleaning up. I feel like a new person, confident, and transformed. These people probably needed the psychological benefits that come with just shedding the street filth for a day. Not to mention, society will look at them as an actual human being for a little while.”

Another one commented:

“Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for helping the some of the most vulnerable in our society and for sharing.”

A viewer also said:

“This is beautiful, I’m so happy people have created things like this. It’s amazing.”
