Pets are their owner’s best friends. They live together, they spend time together, they play, chill out on the couch, or even “argue”- to the extent one can argue with an animal!

Losing a pet is like losing a best friend. You have so many memories together that you can’t stop thinking of them once they are not around anymore.

Everything reminds you of them: their toys, their favorite spot, their food bowls, it’s all there to remind you your friend is not coming back. Especially if you’ve had them for more than a decade.

Just like Texas math teacher Tonya Andrews. When she brought little Blondie home, the kitty was tiny and the woman raised her with great devotion and love. They spent 16 years together and they were best friends.

But, eventually, all good things come to an end. And that’s what happened in spring 2016, when Blondie died, leaving Andrews devastated and with a broken heart.

Although the woman tried to conceal her sorrow, one day she couldn’t hold it anymore so she burst out crying during College Statistics class.

The Joshua High School teacher burst into tears in front of her surprised students who didn’t know how to react. After a while, they decided to ask her what was wrong. And that’s when the woman opened her heart to them about her cat who had just passed away.

As Rachel Hanhart, a junior at Joshua High School told ABC News, the teacher replied “I’m sorry, my 16-year-old cat named Blondie died yesterday.” Hanhart added: “She kind of lost it and started bawling at that point.”

It was obvious that the woman was heartbroken by the loss of her cat, and her students decided to do something about it.

Comer, Swindell, Hanhart, and Mahan, all Andrews’ students, came up with a plan. They would surprise their teacher with flowers and cupcakes to make her feel better. And then they thought Why not get her a new kitten?

And so they did. Hanhart’s mother looked online to find kittens in Fort Worth that needed a home, and she found two sweet babies that could be immediately adopted.

When everything was ready and prepared, the girls took the flowers, sweets, and kittens, and entered the classroom.

Andrews was surprised by what she saw- but she still hadn’t seen the kittens!

She hugged the girls, thanking them for their treat and the flowers, and then she saw the kittens. That’s when she completely lost it!

“Are they mine?” she asked. The woman could not believe her students had just offered her such a great present!

She took the babies in her arms and held them tight. She kissed them and it was obvious she didn’t need anything else to be happy at that moment.

The video was uploaded by Hanhart on Twitter, and it soon went viral with 2,8 million views. It goes without saying that their sweet gesture made the news and the story went viral on YouTube too, where it has since been viewed by almost 6 million people!

Everyone was touched by the girls’ kind gesture. There were even some users who had once known Andrews and commented about what a sweet person she is and how much she deserved this.
