Life is full of serendipitous moments, and in those moments, it seems like the whole universe is lining up to make them happen. That’s what happened for these two college students when a chance encounter led to a discovery that warmed hearts all over the internet.
You never know who you’re sitting by!
When college students, Ally Cole, and Ruby Wierzbicki, sat next to each other on a bus, they never imagined they’d be connected by the orphanage they came from
You never know who you’re going to run into, and what possible connections to them you’ll discover you have. This story proves that the “7 degrees of separation” rule, is far from a myth.
It all started when Sophmore, Ally, and Freshman, Ruby, boarded a bus for a ride across campus. The two strangers ended up sharing a seat and began chit-chatting small talk when something crazy happened.
That’s when the conversation ended up on where they were born, and the synchronicity began
While talking, Ruby revealed that although she grew up in New Jersey, she was actually adopted from China. Ally couldn’t believe what she was hearing, she grew up in Maryland but was also adopted from China.
At first, the two college students thought that it was just a coincidence of being from the same country. China is massive after all…but that wasn’t the only way they were connected.
Ruby pulled up a picture from where she was born at the Jinan Social Welfare Institute, and that’s when the random connection was revealed
After Ruby pulled up a picture of herself on a red and blue slide from the JSWI, Ally pulled up a picture of herself on the very same slide. That’s when they realized what was happening, and were dumbfounded at the connection.
“We held the photos side by side on our phones and we realized that everything matched, and we knew that it had to be the same place,” said Ruby.
Not only did they realize that they were born at the same orphanage, but they also were childhood friends there
The bus dropped them off, and the two long-lost friends dug deeper into the trip down memory lane. What were the chances? The two girls were adopted just one week apart, 15-years-ago when Ruby was 4, and Ally was 6.
“We started scrolling through our photos on our phones, and I realized that Ruby had a lot of photos of me that I’d never seen before and photos where we were together,” said Ally, she went on to say: “One of the photos was one that we both had, with us standing next to each other, and I hadn’t known who the girl next to me was, but now I know.”
The two remained friends, even tracking down another old friend from the orphanage in North Carolina
After putting the dots together for their own insane connection, Ally and Ruby found, another friend from the orphanage in North Carolina, named Issac Rivers.
Finding long-lost friends is always a wonderful experience, especially when it happens like this. Thanks to one random happenstance, the two girls opened a door into their past that has brought a little more happiness into their lives.
