It’s often the little act of kindness that can change a person’s life. We never see all that clearly into what people are struggling through, but our small actions can make all the difference in their day. For one group of kids, a “little action” wasn’t going to cut it.

One group of students at Bishop Manague High School reached out to DBN for help with an awesome project.
The entire plan was centered around one special lady – Ms. Lynn. Lynn is a cafeteria worker who has become famous in the school from nothing but her kindness and personality. The students she has impacted couldn’t say enough good things about what she has done for the students.
DBN and the school partnered up to throw Lynn a huge surprise party!
With a plan in place, the students and teachers all got to work to make the big event happen. DBN even decided to interview Lynn before she knew about the party, and she mentions how wonderful the posters all around the school are – all of them say Dude. Be Nice!
Getting posters, people, and supplies all ready, the students had their work cut out for them.
For these students, it was all about showing someone special how much she meant to them. From what they said, Lynn wasn’t even aware of the positive impact that she had on the students as it was just a part of her loving and caring personality.
They prepped Lynn’s favorite meal, barbecue!
When she started talking about home in a fake interview, you could see how much emotion she had behind her words. She explained how she was from Memphis, and her favorite meal was barbecue! She did her best to go back at least once a year to see her ill mother, but it wasn’t always possible. Thankfully, DBN was on the job!
They got her favorite meal AND a plane ticket for her to go back home.
With the gifts bought and the table set, all that was left to do was surprise Lynn! Taking her by the arm, a student led her to a table as the rest of the students began singing “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast!
Almost immediately, the tears begin to fall.
For a woman with as gentle a heart as she had, it was only a matter of time. Lynn was fully made aware of how much her students loved her and how she had impacted every one of them.
DBN and the students left Lynn with a full belly and a fuller heart!
She was going to go home and see her sick mom, knowing that the whole school was behind her in support. It is incredible what people can do when they set their minds to care for one another.
