Olivia Sievers is a kindhearted flight attendant from Germany with a soft spot for dogs. Her flight route often took her through Buenos Aires, Argentina. While there, she usually stayed at the same hotel.
One day, she saw a stray dog standing outside the hotel.
Olivia gave the dog something to eat. And just like that, she had a best friend for life. The dog, who she named Rubio, was head over heels in love with her.

The dog, who Sievers named Rubio, started hanging out outside the hotel, waiting for Sievers to come back. When he saw her, his tail started wagging, and he flopped on his side and ask for belly rubs.

After this happened once, Sievers tried to avoid Rubio at first. She told Noticero Trece:
“I tried to change my way because I didn’t want that he follow me back to the hotel. “But it was not possible. He always came back and followed me. I tried one hour, but he always watched me and followed me. He was really happy that somebody gave him attention.”

Once it became clear that Rubio wasn’t going anywhere, Sievers continued giving him food. She also sometimes wrapped him in an airline blanket to keep him warm.
“He waited three months for me and came every day to the hotel. I first met him in February (we always stay for two days in BA), then I searched and met him in April for two days and then I could not get a flight to BA until July. The Hotel staff told me, that he came every day since April to look out for me,” Sievers explained in a YouTube comment.
She decided to contact a local animal shelter to see if they would bring Rubio in. They agreed to take him, but Rubio quickly escaped and went back to Sievers’ hotel, where he patiently waited for her.

Finally, Sievers decided to adopt Rubio and bring him back to Germany with her.
Rubio quickly adapted to life in Germany. He loves spending his days running around Sievers’ backyard and playing with her other dog.

Sievers also has taken Rubio on many adventures. Sometimes, they’ll go play in the snow.
She also takes Rubio and her other dog out to a local lake. Rubio enjoys looking down at the fish in the water.

When it’s really cold out, Rubio loves snuggling up by the wood-burning oven.

Olivia adopted Rubio in 2016, and today, he is still happily living with her. She shares photos of him hanging out in the garden, enjoying the sunshine. It’s clear that Rubio chose the perfect forever home!

Rubio’s life changed forever on the day he met Sievers. He went from struggling to survive on the street to a wonderful forever home with a big garden and another dog to play with. We’re so glad these two found each other!
