Look, we’ve all been scammed before. Whether it’s on the internet or at a tourist shop at the beach, we know the feeling of the rug being pulled out from under us. For many older individuals who don’t interact with technology as much as young people do, scams can feel a lot more pressing!

“I just wanted to let you know about an amazing, honest individual that saved my mom from financial disaster. She was on the verge of being scammed by a phone solicitor who kept her hostage on her phone for 6 hours, then tried to extort $8,000 in cash to be sent to him next-day air because she had thought she’d won a prize. It then turned into a situation where she owed him the money and she needed to pay it back.”

For someone who isn’t super tech-savvy, this situation came across as dire! Thankfully, Dane Croft was working that day. Dane is the owner of the shipping location where the woman was trying to send money and recognized what was happening to her.

For Dane, it was a small thing to save the woman from a scam. For the woman, it was a huge and life-changing save. Even more, Dane’s kind actions were about to have its own rewards! Rolling up with a camera crew, East Idaho News was ready to surprise Dane with some gifts.

It was clear that Dane had no idea that his act of kindness was going to turn into the moment that was happening now!

East Idaho News was able to gift Dane with some Amazon gift cards in order to support him and his business. When he got the gift and retold the story, tears welled up in his eyes – he was genuinely moved! Helping the older woman wasn’t something that he ever expected payment for but sometimes, good deeds do get rewarded.
