Steve Harvey is one of the most popular TV hosts and celebrities- and there’s a good reason for it.

Not only is he a talented comedian and someone that makes you laugh and have a good time when watching his shows, but he’s also an inspiring person with a remarkable story.

You see, life has not always been easy for Harvey. Growing up in Cleveland, he was one of many siblings, and he really didn’t know what he wanted to do job-wise in the future.

Although he started his University studies in Kent, he never graduated, and, instead, returned to Cleveland, where he did numerous jobs until he found his calling.

A boxer, an insurance salesman, a carpet cleaner, and a mailman- Harvey tried everything hoping that he’d find his passion and pursue a career.

Indeed, in the 80s, he participated in an amateur night contest at a local comedy club, and that’s when he decided to work hard and succeed as a stand-up comedian.

It didn’t take long. By the early 1990s, he had become popular and he had appeared in a few TV shows, too.

And the rest is history. Everyone has watched at least one episode of the Family Feud game show, where he makes us laugh hard with his sense of humor.

At the same time, Harvey has not forgotten his roots and the difficulties and obstacles he had to overcome until becoming rich and famous.

And that’s why he tries to give back to society and inspire younger people to follow their dreams no matter how crazy they sound.

The famous actor, along with his wife, has headed the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation, “a philanthropic venture that provided mentoring to fatherless young people.”

But, besides the foundation that helps youth in need, Harvey also makes donations whenever he feels they will make a difference.

Like in the case of a Family Feud contestant, who shared a heartbreaking story with him.

As Harvey recalled in front of his audience, during one episode of the game show, there was a man who was sweating like crazy.

The man was sweating so much that they had to change his shirt during the game. The team had played another couple of times but they hadn’t been able to win the money.

On their last attempt, they did it. They won $20,000, and the man who had been sweating all along broke down into tears.

Harvey thought that this was too much of a reaction, and he went over to him and asked what was going on. The man’s answer brought tears to his own eyes.

“He says ‘Steve, I’m terminally ill. I got three months to live, and because of my illness I can’t get insurance. I need this money for my family,'” Harvey recalled.

So, what did he do? He gave the man another $25,000 out of his own pocket.
