A lot of us can’t get enough of watching makeover reveals. But after two sisters were selected for Ambush Makeovers on the TODAY show, it became a segment with an extra-fun kick!
Beth Fuller and her older sister Anna Fountaine were on a girls’ trip to New York City when they fulfilled a bucket list dream and visited the plaza. It was there that they were chosen by celebrity hairstylist Louis Licari and fashion expert Jill Martin for a day of beauty.
The pair of ladies seemed thrilled about it all! Not only would they get a huge surprise looking in the mirror, but they’d also be stunned seeing each other’s new look as well. How fun is that?
First up was 52-year-old Beth from Sullivan, Maine.
Beth had been a nurse for a decade and admitted that she pretty much lived in her scrubs or PJs. She also wasn’t one to treat herself to a day at the salon. Instead, she dyed and cut her hair at home.
Unsurprisingly, Beth also had a heart of gold.
Anna gave an explanation during their interview, saying:
“All her life she’s been cutting her own hair, taking care of others – she’s a nurse, she takes care of the elderly, so she deserves it.”
Some women get extremely nervous about having their long locks cut. However, Beth wasn’t worried about it at all!
Drumroll, please… When Beth makes her entrance onto the TODAY show set – she looks absolutely gorgeous!
Instead of her long faded do, she has a shoulder-length haircut that’s a “medium to dark blonde with a pinch of warmth.” She appears younger with a “fun and flirty” outfit – consisting of a floral dress paired with a white leather jacket.
The hosts then ask Beth to turn around so they can introduce her sister Anna. That way, it would be a memorable double-reveal!
Next up was 53-year-old mother-of-two, Anna. She worked as a retail manager in Orlando, Florida.
Anna’s situation was slightly different. While her sister Beth colored her hair to hide the grays, she didn’t (and had never dyed her hair before). But where they were similar was in their outfit choices. Like her sister, Anna didn’t dress up much and instead wore a lot of jeans.
She admitted that she was “very excited and very nervous.”
It was time to see the brand new Anna… She too walks onto the set looking fabulous!
With a softer hair color and style, she appears more youthful and vibrant. For her clothing, she was given a beautiful ivory jacket that had lace features, which was matched with black slacks.
Finally, the sisters have the chance to come face to face.
Anna is standing with her sister facing away from her. When Beth turns around, they both seem shocked over what they see! Older sister Anna tells her sibling:
“Oh my god. You look like a model!”
Viewers have been applauding the end results of this special Ambush Makeover. One person commented:
“They look sensational and so much younger – what a difference the right hair colour and cut makes. Great job!”
People were especially impressed with Beth’s transformation, agreeing that she looks even decades younger.
“The blond lady looks like her own daughter :) amazing!!!!!!!”
