Singer-songwriter Sia has been climbing the radio charts for years now. Starting off with the haunting single ‘Breathe Me’,’ she became more and more popular when she started doing collaborations with other artists like Eminem, Adele, Sean Paul, David Guetta, Kanye West, and more. Her song “Chandelier” sent the private singer into stardom.
However, it wasn’t Sia’s songwriting that recently put her in the spotlight – it was her generous act of kindness.
Normally, the 43-year-old singer never shows her face. Donning large wigs or masks, Sia generally likes to keep her identity hidden, making it hard for even her biggest fans to recognize her. But, on November 27th, the songstress went into Walmart without any disguise whatsoever and pay for people’s groceries.
The day before Thanksgiving, the singer wanted to give back to the community. So, she walked into a Walmart in Palm Springs, California and said her name was Cici.
The famous singer, wearing everyday clothing, began telling people in the store that she had recently just won the lottery.
Walking up to random strangers at the cash register, Sia happily walked up to the till to pay for their bills. People were absolutely floored by this “random” woman’s act of kindness and generosity. However, after a few tabs being picked up, a fan finally recognized the normally-disguised superstar.
People were absolutely in love with the fact that the pop star wasn’t doing this for any sort of recognition at all, but just to be kind and to spread love and kindness.
“I love that she did this not for recognition of showing kindness, but just actually being a kind person,” shared one fan on Instagram after photos and videos were uploaded.
Sia was hoping she wouldn’t be recognized, but her act of kindness was so surprising, it’s not shocking that someone finally caught on.
“She didn’t want people to know who she was or why she was doing it,” one person tweeted.
Sia has recently started to really connect with her fans when she opened up in October about a pain condition that which she has been suffering for quite some time. She hopes to be a beacon of hope and inspiration for others going through the same thing.
“Hey, I’m suffering from chronic pain, a neurological disease [and] ehlers danlos and I just wanted to say to those of you suffering from pain, whether physical or emotional, I love you, keep going. Life is f– hard. Pain is demoralizing, and you’re not alone,” the singer tweeted.
Of course, after news of her generosity at Walmart began to spread online, her fans across the world shared their words of love and kindness for the singer.
“I think Sia needs her own talk show honestly, where she does all these kind things, I think people need to see more genuine kindness for some inspiration. If not, maybe have her own segment on
@TheEllenShow even get some community projects going, we need more positive role models,” one person suggested.
“That’s selfless & authentic….and under the radar….now let’s add her to all our playlists,” said another.
It’s clear that Sia made people’s day, which happened to be the day before Thanksgiving. Her compassion and empathy are beyond admirable.
