This Navy veteran is going to have a jolly Christmas with his family, thanks to East Idaho’s Secret Santa!

Every year, an anonymous local benefactor gives out gifts worth $500,000 during the holiday season in East Idaho.

This benefactor teamed up with East Idaho News to give out the gifts so he can remain anonymous.

Secret Santa has given a brand-new van to a family of 15, a fence and an automatic bed for a paralyzed man, and a brand-new car for a single mom of four children.

This time, Secret Santa, through Nate Eaton and East Idaho News, is surprising a senior navy veteran with a big gift.

Darold Young is one of the people who was included in Secret Santa’s list.

Darold is a senior navy veteran, who has been shuttling back and forth between his wife and his 91-year-old mother, tending to their medical needs.

He would tend to his wife first, who cannot take care of herself because of existing medical conditions.

After a few hours, a caregiver will arrive to take care of his wife and give him time to drive to another town 22 miles away called Blackfoot.

His 91-year-old mother lives alone in her house located in Blackfoot and Darold takes care of her as well.

This is what he does every day without complaint. Even if his car isn’t the most reliable transportation.

To top it off, he had extensive surgery and needed another surgery in a few months during the time of the filming of this video.

Plus his best friend, who was always there for him and even shuttled him back and forth to the VA, had passed away.

It left him devastated.

Now, because of his selflessness, his daughter wanted to give him back something great.

Secret Santa listened and East Idaho News came to deliver the good news to him.

His daughter told Darold to come to the county courthouse, where she worked, to pick up Christmas gifts.

Thinking they were just ordinary Christmas gifts, he went and was surprised by the presence of Nate and the East Idaho News crew.

At first, Nate gave him a box containing gasoline gift cards worth $1,000 and a $1,000 check to pay for insurance and registration.

Darold’s eyes lit up when he realized how much he was given.

“You have got to be kidding me!” Darold replied.

Nate said they weren’t kidding.

And then Nate said they had one more gift for him but they left it in the car.

Does he mind coming with them to the car so Nate can give it to Darold?

Darold didn’t mind.

They went outside and Nate directed him to the parking lot towards a car with a big red ribbon on it.

Secret Santa gave Darold a brand-new and very reliable car!

Darold couldn’t believe it.

He was so speechless and couldn’t even speak behind the tears.

He took the keys from Nate so he could sit in his brand-new car. Once inside, he just took his time and savored the moment.

Darold needs a reliable car to bring his wife and mother to and from their doctor’s appointments.

And for him as well!

Now he’s got one.
