Jump in, and sail with us all the way to the beginning of Coffin’s career. Let’s see how the man with a strong voice became one of the most popular folk musicians in the United States.

Besides being the song leader for the Revels music programs in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the director of the Narration Program for Boston Harbor Cruises, Coffin also plays shawm, rackett and gemshorn.

Perhaps David’s musical talent could be explained by the fact that he comes from a family of musicians. David’s father, Reverend William Sloane Coffin, studied to be a concert pianist. Amazingly, Coffin’s grandfather was another famous pianist, Arthur Rubenstein, and his great grandfather was Polish conductor Emil MÅ‚ynarski.
