On the tenth of October every year, awareness is being raised for mental health issues around the world. Dozens of organizations and people offer their support for mental health problems, whether it’s for family, friends or complete strangers. World Mental Health Day is the perfect opportunity to talk about mental health, and how we can help people dealing with those issues.
The topic certainly is a rather sensitive one, but many celebrities around the world are trying to shatter the taboo.
None one than Prince Harry and the ever so popular singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran have teamed up for World Mental Health Day.

The iconic pairing of two of Britain’s most popular gingers has been teased on the social media platforms of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, primarily on Instagram. Just before World Mental Health Day, a short teaser video was uploaded where Ed Sheeran rings the doorbell of Harry. “Hi mate,” the Prince says. “It’s like looking in the mirror”, he said laughingly.
Ed then asks if he can bring the camera crew along, and Harry happily obliges. It’s being speculated that the short video wasn’t filmed at Frogmore Cottage, which was recently renovated and has been in the news quite a bit recently. Royalty fans have already analyzed the short video and think that the footage was taken at Kensington Palace’s Ivy Cottage instead, the home of Princess Eugenie.
The full video was uploaded on World Mental Health Day itself, and this time, it was also shared on Ed Sheeran’s Instagram account.
Both of them are seen sitting at a table, clearly ready to have a brainstorm session. The Prince then thanks the singer-songwriter for his help on this project, and Ed responds that it’s something that he has been passionate about for a while. Harry, somewhat surprised, simply replied with a “You as well?”.
The prince then goes on that it’s pretty much a sensitive subject that isn’t talked about enough. Plenty of people are suffering, and Ed then reveals that he’s actually been trying to write a song about the subject that would greatly help raise awareness.
However, in the comical video, it doesn’t exactly appear as if both men are on the same page.
“People just don’t understand what it’s like for people like us — with the jokes and the snide comments. I just feel like it’s time we stood up and said, ‘We are ginger, and we are going to fight.’”
Ed Sheeran clearly thinks he’s working on a project to help gingers, but Harry then tries to fix this “slightly awkard” miscommunication, as he described it himself.
Ed then plays along thinking that was the plan all along, thereby deleting the large words “Gingers Unite” on his laptop.
It’s a simple comical sketch with two of Britain’s most popular figures and it has been viewed millions of times on Instagram.
After the sketch, things start to get a little more serious and both of them are actually trying to get their message across.
“Guys, this World Mental Health Day, reach out to your friends, strangers, look out for anybody that might be suffering in silence. We’re all in this together,” the prince says to the camera.
As the Prince says in the video, mental health is most definitely one of the things that he’s been very passionate about in the past. He’s even made it one of the most important talking points during his trip to Africa with his lovely wife Meghan Markle.
“I think most of the stigma is around mental illness we need to separate the two … mental health which is every single one of us and mental illness which could be every single one of us,” Harry said to The Express.
