Nurses, doctors, and other healthcare workers have always been heroes, but since the coronavirus crisis began, many of us have really started to understand just how amazing these people are.

Each and every day, while the rest of us are staying safe in our homes, they get up and go into work, saving people, battling the virus, and putting their own lives on the line to help others.

It’s simply inspirational to see all the hard work they do each day, and they deserve every bit of help they can get. Sadly, many healthcare workers in various countries have struggled with a lack of PPE (personal protective equipment), but one Filipino nurse is helping to change all of that, in style!

Adrian Pe is a cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) nurse from Iloilo in the Philippines. He’s also a fashion designer, and when he saw how so many hardworking healthcare providers weren’t getting enough PPE, he knew he wanted to help.

And as soon as he got to work, Adrian’s love of fashion and flair started to shine through.

Instead of working with dull materials and bland colors, he decided to make brightly-colored gowns and gear in the style of classic characters from his youth, including the Power Rangers and Teletubbies.

Hoping to help nurses and doctors “live out their childhood”, Adrian says he chose the Power Rangers because they can help nurses and doctors feel even more heroic, and Teletubbies because they help to provide a “positive vibe”.

Basically, he wanted to make PPE that would put a smile on the faces of these amazing workers, and his creations have been a huge hit so far!

As word started to spread about his colorful costumes, other volunteers got involved and copied his designs, making more and more suits for hospitals all over the country.

Adrian knows how hard it can be to work in a hospital, but he says he’s always taught himself to “look for the beauty” in everything.

He aims to always find the silver lining, in any situation, spreading hope and positivity wherever he goes.

Even during a crisis like COVID-19, he’s used his positive mindset to produce something truly inspiring, and it’s wonderful to see how so many people have got involved and benefited from his awesome idea.

Adrian says he’s able to make between six and eight suits a day by himself, and with the help of other volunteers, over 800 coveralls, 30 boxes of surgical face masks, and 500 cloth face masks have been provided to hospital workers so far.

He and all of the other workers deserve a huge round of applause for such a great effort, and they’re still working hard, every single day, to make more PPE for those who need it.

Well done to Adrian and everyone else who has helped out. And well done to all the amazing healthcare workers who are doing so much to keep us safe. You can check out Adrian’s Instagram for more updates on his colorful PPE creations.
