In today’s society, women often carry a burden to look or dress a certain way. With skinny models, Photoshopped print ads, and beauty filters galore, it’s no wonder that a lot of us just don’t feel like we stack up.

In June of 2016, Dove attempted to explore low beauty confidence and appearance anxiety amongst females of the world. The results led Dr. Nancy Etcoff, Assistant Clinical Professor at Harvard Medical School, to say that “low body confidence is a global issue”, advising society to empower women by “driving for meaningful conversations around the pressures women and girls face, and advocating for change in how females and their appearance are talked about or portrayed in the media.”

Although changing the discourse around female body positivity can sound like an overwhelming task, one husband sure is trying his best!

On July 31st, 2017, author and activist Robbie Tripp took to his Instagram account to pen an admiring message about his wife Sarah. He begins by saying:

“I love this woman and her curvy body.

“As a teenager, I was often teased by my friends for my attraction to girls on the thicker sides, ones who were short and curvier, girls that the average (basic) bro might refer to chubby.”

The loving husband goes on to describe growing older and learning more about feminism and how larger women are marginalized in society. He explains:

“The media marginalizes women by portraying a very narrow and very specific standard of beauty (thin, tall, lean).”

In a few adorable lines, Robbie Tripp pleads with other men to reconsider what society has deemed to be attractive.

He explains that a woman is not a character or object, but a real life person with “beautiful stretch marks on her hips and cute little dimples on her booty.” To the women, he promises that they will find a man who will celebrate them exactly as they are.

“Someone who will love you like I love my Sarah.”

Robbie’s message, posted alongside a gorgeous photo of him and Sarah on the beach, has been shared over 16,000 times.

People everywhere are melting over Robbie’s pure-hearted love for his wife. One user writes, “More men should read this and learn from you”, while another hashtags ‘goals’ and ‘wheresmyrobbietripp’.

In response to her husband’s heartwarming display of affection, Sarah tells TODAY:

“As a body-positive fashion blogger, I’ve been very open about my body love journey and my goal to help other curvy women learn to love their body. I just feel so lucky that I have a husband who has loved every inch of me since the day we met.”

|| I love this woman and her curvy body. As a teenager, I was often teased by my friends for my attraction to girls on the thicker side, ones who were shorter and curvier, girls that the average (basic) bro might refer to as “chubby” or even “fat.” Then, as I became a man and started to educate myself on issues such as feminism and how the media marginalizes women by portraying a very narrow and very specific standard of beauty (thin, tall, lean) I realized how many men have bought into that lie. For me, there is nothing sexier than this woman right here: thick thighs, big booty, cute little side roll, etc. Her shape and size won’t be the one featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan but it’s the one featured in my life and in my heart. There’s nothing sexier to me than a woman who is both curvy and confident; this gorgeous girl I married fills out every inch of her jeans and is still the most beautiful one in the room. Guys, rethink what society has told you that you should desire. A real woman is not a porn star or a bikini mannequin or a movie character. She’s real. She has beautiful stretch marks on her hips and cute little dimples on her booty. Girls, don’t ever fool yourself by thinking you have to fit a certain mold to be loved and appreciated. There is a guy out there who is going to celebrate you for exactly who you are, someone who will love you like I love my Sarah. || photo cred: @kaileehjudd
