The Git Up dance challenge is a viral trend that was really making the rounds on the internet recently.
The dance challenge is set to a song called “The Git Up” by singer/songwriter/producer Blanco Brown and what makes the trend so fun is that people of all ages and professions have participated in it. The internet has seen young children, grandparents, and even police officers take on the fun challenge.
Plus, Brown has produced hits for megastars like Pitbull and Chris Brown, so it only makes sense that he finally gets his own chance to shine. This song is so fun, it’s like a hybrid of R&B and country and clearly the whole world loves it!
Back in November 2019, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with Yuba City Police Department, Sutter County Courts, and Sutter County Code Enforcement to film their hilarious take on the Git Up challenge.
It is clear that they put a ton of effort into it, so we have to give them some major props for that as well. This isn’t something they just did in the spur of the moment — we can see a lot of planning, organization and rehearsal went into this!
Not everyone goes super in-depth with this challenge but this team of people sure did. Instead of just diving right into the dance first thing, they planned out a whole scenario.
First we see two cop cars driving up to a parking lot. It looks like they’re about to crash into each other but don’t worry, they don’t — ha!
Then the drivers both get out of their cars and act out a fake fight over a parking spot. When they can’t come to terms in the argument, they call in for help elsewhere.
The woman they call goes on to spread the news that they “are at it again” and suddenly, the whole office gets involved in the hilarious situation. Someone else in the office heads out to go take care of it.
More officers get involved and, before heading out, they take the opportunity to crack a few jokes. They sure are setting us up for an interesting situation.
When they all head out, dramatic music plays which really makes the whole thing even funnier.
After a whole lot of walking to dramatic music, everyone finally makes their way to meeting in the parking lot.
They tell a few more jokes and argue a little bit more here and there until they finally decide they only have one option — and that is to dance it out.
The actual dance doesn’t even start until the two-minute mark which makes it even funnier.
Finally, they dive into the dance until everyone is all dancing together. We have to say they pretty much nail it. At one point, a k-9 even joins in on the dancing fun!
The video garnered over 5 million views since it is so hilarious. You have to give them props for the major effort.
