Most of us have a drawer in our house that contains nothing but randomly acquired things.

Oftentimes, we don’t even know where these things came from or what to do with them.

However, don’t go throwing away everything in that drawer just yet.

There’s a chance that one of those items could be worth quite a bit of money.

There’s a program on PBS called Antiques Roadshow.

You’ve probably heard of it, but if not, they have a Facebook page with lots of great content.

Essentially, the roadshow stops in different towns, and the people from that area will bring in their antique items to see if they are worth any money.

There are expert appraisers who will look over each item and tell the owner roughly what it is worth.

Sometimes, the antiques are worth a fortune.

Other times, they are worth next to nothing.

Either way, it’s fun to watch and see all of the different types of things that end up on the show.

One man decided to bring in his great-grandfather’s pocket watch and see if it was worth anything.

But this wasn’t just any old watch, it was a mint condition Patek Philippe Pocket Watch from 1914.

It was given to his great-grandfather as a gift and has stayed in the family until finally getting passed down to him.

The expert had nothing but good things to say about the watch and pointed out all of its awesome features.

Needless to say, this was one impressive watch.

Before telling the man what he thought his watch was worth, he asked if the man had a guess.

The man told him that he had had the watch appraised fifteen years ago and that it was thought to be worth about $6,000.

The expert couldn’t help but laugh a bit at this number.

At first, you’re not sure if the previous appraisal was far too high or far too low.

But then the expert lets the man known exactly what he thinks the watch is worth and the previous estimate was way off.

The appraiser tells the man that his watch is currently being bought back by the original company who made them in order to put them into a museum.

He goes on to say that he estimates the watch bringing in about $250,000 at auction.

The man is shocked and can’t do anything but laugh.

He looks back at the appraiser and says, “no.”

He smiles as he is saying this, in total disbelief.

The appraiser responds with a simple, “yes” and then proceeds to tell him why.

Of course, the man was overjoyed to hear this estimate, but that wouldn’t be the last good news that this watch would bring him.

This episode aired in 2004 and since then, that watch’s value has sky-rocketed.

In 2019, it was appraised again and is now worth between 2 and 3 million dollars!

Since it’s a family heirloom, the man may never sell it.

But if he does, it would make him a very rich man.
