“We have a VIP on board.”
A video of a pilot announcing a very special passenger on board his flight has garnered a lot of traffic online. The heartfelt video shows the pilot proudly recognizing his father as a ‘VIP passenger.’ As the pilot begins to talk to the passengers about his father, he starts to get emotional.
His words of respect and love are heard loud and clear.
As the pilot picks up the intercom, the passengers listen as he gives an emotional and moving tribute to a very special person in his life. He doesn’t reveal right away who this VIP passenger really is until he gives the other passengers a small glimpse into his past.
The VIP is revealed.
“So, a little bit about this VIP. He hails from Kingston, Jamaica, born in the small town of Portmore, Jamaica. He migrated from Jamaica to Toronto, Canada in the late ‘60s, I do believe. Then he migrated down to New Jersey and now he lives in the nice little town of Kennesaw, Georgia. And the VIP I’m talking about is my father.” – KHOU11
A father looks on with pride.
As the pilot continues to talk about his father, he is seen getting teary-eyed. This is a significant moment in this pilot’s life as it is the very first time he has flown with his father. “This is my first flight with him,” the pilot says to the passengers…I tried to hold the tears back. I didn’t think I’d cry, but this is a very special and important flight for me. This is the first time I’ve flown with my father. And I’m just very thankful and blessed to have my father on board. And Dad, I thank you for everything that you’ve done for me.”
The pilot joked with the passengers before takeoff.
“So folks, once again, welcome aboard. I’ll get you up there safe, because he’s going to ride on me if he doesn’t and my mom’s going to get on me. So folks, thank you. Oh, and his birthday was yesterday, too. He says he’s 72, he doesn’t look a year older than about 45 but he says he’s 72…So, happy birthday to him, too.” – godupdates.com
A proud moment for the entire family.
We are all a little more aware when our parents are watching. We want to make them proud and this pilot is no different. It was obviously a huge moment in his life to finally show his dad how far he had come.

“It’s a blessing to have such a loving father and somebody that supports me and has been there for me through the good and the bad.”
This father and son bond is truly inspiring and makes you realize that having a loving support system in life can give you wings.
