Have you ever felt like you’ve been exactly at the right place at the right time? When things just seem to align perfectly? Well, France-based photographer, Stefan Draschan, lives for those moments. One of Draschan’s interesting projects is titled “People Matching Artwork“.
Draschan likes to bring his camera to different art museums in Paris, Berlin, and Vienna and wait for the perfect moment when a visitor matches a painting. His photos have required a lot of patience and a keen eye for details. The results, however, are incredible.
Here are 55 people who perfectly match with the art they are admiring.
The photos are beautiful, sometimes humorous, and always candid.
1. The colors and patterns are perfect
The stars that had to align to get this photo are just incredible. The pattern of the woman’s unique shirt perfectly aligns with the painting she’s adoring. And her skin tone even matches the painting as well.
2. Impressionism in real life
This woman appears to be standing in front of a Monet or some other impressionism artist, and her flowing dress appears to melt directly into the painting.
It’s hard to believe that this photo wasn’t staged. The man peering up at this painting appears to be wearing the same outfit and have the same body shape as the man in the artwork.
The layers and hues of blue in this photo is just striking. When this young girl walked in front of this starry-sky painting, Draschan saw the colors align perfectly.
Here’s yet another incredibly-timed photo with a man in light clothing looking at the lighter-colored painting. While next to him, the woman in all black gazes at the dark-colored painting. Yin and yang.
The woman casually walking by and looking at this painting has no idea how color-coordinated she is with the artwork. Stefan Draschan, however, saw it in an instant.
7. She’s drawn to it for some reason
This woman seems to be drawn to this floral painting for some reason…perhaps because it seems to be just her style. The jumper that she is wearing is strangely similar to the artwork.
Here’s another instance where someone seems to have been drawn in by a very similar pattern that they happen to be wearing. Even the colors are similar. Such a beautiful coincidence!
This couple has no idea how much they are lining up with this painting right now. The woman’s puffy, silver coat is bizarrely similar to the woman’s puffy dress. And the man’s black jacket matches the black cape in the painting.
10. Is she in the painting?
The abstract painting appears to be sucking this woman right into it! Her shirt has wavy lines in simple colors that look like they could easily belong to this piece of art.
This gorgeous painting appears to depict rolling hills during twilight. The golden hue fills the sky and a woman with a metallic gold sweater matches both the sky and frame.
This beautiful piece of art contains colors of light yellow, tan, blues, and greens – the very same colors that this woman has in her long hair. It creates quite the colorful photo.
13. When colors and patterns collide
As this person gazes at a piece of art with maroons and a Persian rug-like pattern, do they know that their hat and shirt are perfectly matching? Serendipity!
14. She’s at the table too
This woman’s hat and outfit match with this painting so well that it looks like she’s actually sitting at the table with them. Is she looking at them or are they looking at her?
Stefan Draschan struck photography gold when he saw this woman in this jacket approach this art installment. Not only is her coat red and white – it’s the exact shade of red and white.
She seems to be very intrigued by this photo and we’re going to guess it’s because she really loves bright colors in shades of yellow, blue, green, and purple. Sort of exactly like the sweater she is wearing.
The black and white photo is a cool optical illusion in and of itself. When you throw in this person’s black and white sweater, with stripes that are perfectly spaced to match the photo – it’s a trippy sight!
The statue next to this man appears to be peering down at him, wondering if he’s met his long-lost twin. The man, however, has no idea of this perfectly-timed moment.
Remember that dark painting from earlier? Here it is again drawing in four women who all lean in to get a closer look, causing a witch-like feel to the photo.
At first glance, it looks like this woman is looking into a mirror or seeing a creepy reflection. Her black outfit and gold hair match the blackness of the painting and the gold crown.
Her bright pink hair with bluish-purple head scarf look beautiful against the extremely similar color-theme in front of her. She’s found her new favorite piece of art.
Is it just us or does this photo look like a Ricola commercial? This young man’s outfit with suspenders and hat fits right in with the Swiss Alps in the background.
Not only does this woman’s scarf appear to be the exact same color as the sofa in the painting, but her haircut appears to be the exact same haircut as the woman in the painting. Crazy.
24. Fashion never changes, apparently
We’re staring at the back of a woman with a black and white patterned shirt and black hat, staring at a woman wearing a black and white patterned shirt and black hat. Spooky.
25. The mountain range continues
In this beautiful photo, it looks like the mountains from the painting jump off and continue onto her shirt in a different style of art. And the trail disappears into the painting when you look the other way.
26. Messing with your brain
The similarities of colors between this man’s plaid shirt and the piece of art is incredible. It’s like you’re being sucked into a black hole of vibrant color (let’s just pretend that’s a thing).
This painting has a lot going on and so does this guy’s jacket. The colors not only coincide, but the way this man lines up with the painting makes it look like he has both horns and a halo.
Don’t worry, your eyesight isn’t going blurry – it’s just that the pattern of this piece of art and this woman’s shirt all meld together like watercolor.
A woman strikes a pose while looking at this photo that is eerily similar to her. The orange dress and silver hair are the same colors as the woman in the painting.
30. Cloaked in royal blue
This man’s long scarf that is draped over him is the exact royal blue of the cloak in the painting in front of him. What makes these photos so great is the complete obliviousness these people have to the gorgeous moment that was captured.
31. Rising over the mountains
This woman’s black coat and blonde hair make it look like her head is the sun rising over the mountains. Her shoulders have completely disappeared into the mountain range.
In the painting, you’ll notice people with red cloaks, blonde hair, and red hair, which makes these two women seem to fit right in with the crowd. They could easily be part of this piece of art.
To her, she’s just looking at a piece of art in a museum. To us, it looks like she’s looking into a mirror. A really weird, alternate universe type of mirror.
34. Walking right into it
Draschan really captured a cool moment in this photo. It looks like this woman is about to walk right into this boldly-patterned tapestry.
Is the museum where this person likes to come for fashion inspiration? Because, from judging by this photo – the answer is yes.
The woman in this photo is so perfectly centered with the tree in the painting that it’s hard to tell where the tree ends and her hair begins. Pretty awesome.
The colors in this painting seem to be a muted pastel and it looks gorgeous when paired with the similar colors of this woman’s shirt. It’s so interesting how people are drawn to what they’re wearing.
38. She feels at home here
This woman’s bright blue hair is the same shade of blue in the painting that she’s admiring. It’s as if she belongs in that blue apartment with goldfish by the windowsill.
Her black, lace-patterned shirt jumps right into the painting and her short red hair continues the flow upward. Little does she know Draschan captured an even better shot than the one she’s taking.
If she takes one more step closer, she’ll disappear right into this piece of bright artwork. It’s literally like every color in her dress is also in the painting right in front of her.
As a man gazes at this piece of art on a museum wall, Draschan sees a perfect photo opportunity. The colors are just too good not to capture.
This gorgeous brick artpiece looks like mosaic tiles and this man’s shirt has a similar type of ’tiled’ pattern to it as well. It all seems to blend together.
It looks like this young woman could just step over the edge of the frame and enter the painting seamlessly. In fact, her white dress would blend right into the crowd.
44. An abstract masterpiece
These two peas in a pod are drawn to the colors red and black as you can tell by their style. So, it’s no surprise that they seem to be in awe of this piece of art.
Shades of blue seem to be the most common color that Stefan Draschan captures in his museum/people photos. Here’s another example of a woman’s jacket matching the flowers in the piece of art in front of her.
46. Orange and yellow stripes
It’s the color of the stripes in this man’s sweater that make it seem like it melds into the bottom of the painting. The color scheme of the artwork is an exact match.
This woman likes that ‘tarnished metal’ look. And apparently that goes for both her clothes and her art.
This woman’s clothing and hair color made her completely disappear when she walked in front of this painting. Or did she warp into the painting itself?
Our man in plaid is back and he seems to be inherently drawn to very bright-colored paintings that happen to have the same colors as his zany shirt. We love it.
This woman has no idea how much her outfit matches the colors of this painting. Even her belt happens to be the same color as the painting’s frame.
This woman’s sweater is pretty much a rendition of the painting she’s looking at – just in more of a pixelated, video game-style type of graphic. Pretty cool.
52. All the colors are a match
The patterns might be different between this person’s clothes and the piece of art, but the colors sure are spot on. Just look at that scarf and the height to wear it sits on the tapestry. Too crazy!
The bright colors are taken down a notch with this woman and the painting that she’s observing. This time, mauve, forest green, and a pale yellow seem to be the theme.
54. Looking into the light
Her denim jacket and black hair lead your eyes up to the painting’s blue tunnel with a bright light at the end. A gorgeous match.
This man leans down to get a closer look at this statue not realizing that he happens to be wearing the exact same colors of the very thing he’s admiring. The universe has aligned.
Imagine all of the hours that this photographer spent people watching, just waiting for that perfect moment. Check out more of Stefan Draschan’s work here.
