It’s always thrilling to discover secrets or artifacts hidden away by others. Like archaeologists unearthing mummies or remnants of an ancient empire, or paleontologists who dig up dinosaur bones, these home owners made discoveries of their own.
Some were thrilling finds while others were wished there had been more. But still, the big question is why the previous owners went through all the trouble.
Homeowner Joe DiCresce thought he struck gold.
This dad lifted a loose tile in his home and found a safe set in to concrete. Even his daughter Rebecca got excited. they tried to guess the combination but that’s pretty impossible given the circumstances.
Joe says he’s really anxious and is hoping for gold bars, while Rebecca wants cash. Either way, they win. Or did they?
He posted a photo on social media with the caption, “Just bought a house… Found this hidden under the floor. How do I open this?”
They are just one of many households who’ve had intriguing finds in the walls of their homes. Now before you go grabbing that sledgehammer and breaking those walls, keep reading. Besides, walls are expensive.
These Minnesota home owners found a time capsule literally inside a wall. A handwritten ledger with what looked to be a grocery list complete with prices. But it’s the ledger that grabs attention.

There’s also a framed photo of a woman from the roaring twenties.
Then a hanger, a tie, and other artifacts that belonged to an era devoid of modern technology.
A home in Michigan that was to be renovated had antique books, a gem stone, and a strange looking piece of metal. We’re thinking witchcraft or sorcery.
Then there were much cuter finds.
A man found kittens that somehow got stuck in his walls. It’s a good thing he found them. Now they’ve got another chance at life. They’ve still got all nine. Wall traps don’t count.
Then there’s this home that had a huge hive of 50,000 bees. “Honey, check this out!”
Now let’s go back to that safe in Florida. A licensed locksmith noted the serial number then got the combination from the manufacturer. So what secrets were stored in it? Water. Oh and a coin.
The coin was valued at $187. Enough for a small family party!

Well he’s not wrong.
A far cry from films such as The Lord of the Rings when Bilbo won the ring from Gollum. Or in Harry Potter when they began discovering Voldemort’s horcruxes. But those antique books and gem stone do sound interesting…
