The experience of losing a loved one is universally acknowledged as one of the most challenging life events.
Graves can serve as a sacred space where memories are cherished and the departed are honored.
This was the case for Jacob and Tashanna Armstrong, an Oklahoma couple who tragically lost their newborn son, McKade.
Their grieving process, however, was marred by a disturbing mystery: the small, sentimental items they left at their son’s grave began to vanish.

The Armstrongs found solace in visiting McKade’s grave, leaving behind tokens of their love—trinkets, toys, and other mementos.
While these items might not hold significant value to others, they were priceless to Jacob and Tashanna.
Their heartache deepened when they discovered that someone was stealing these cherished keepsakes from their son’s resting place.
Determined to uncover the identity of the thief, Jacob installed a discreet camera in the nearby bushes.

The hidden camera soon captured footage of two shadowy figures prowling around the grave.
However, due to the camera’s initial placement, the couple was unable to discern the faces of the culprits.
Undeterred, Jacob repositioned the camera for a clearer view of the grave robbers.
The revised angle yielded results: the footage revealed a man brazenly lifting a pinwheel from the grave.
Armed with this evidence, the couple approached their local police department.

The Armstrongs found an ally in Deputy Chief James Logsdon of the local police department.
Logsdon was personally invested in the case, as his stillborn sister was interred near McKade’s grave.
Speaking to Inside Edition, he expressed his commitment to bringing the perpetrator to justice, stating, “It would be hard to find a more defenseless victim than someone buried out here.”

Following the publication of the suspect’s photos in the local newspaper, the grave robber was identified as a 77-year-old man.
Boyer was subsequently arrested and charged with petty larceny.
Eager to confront Boyer, Jacob and Tashanna collaborated with Inside Edition to track him down.
When confronted, Boyer expressed remorse for his actions, insisting that theft was not a habit of his.

The act of stealing from the deceased, who are utterly defenseless, is deeply unethical.
It’s a violation that can cause immense distress for the bereaved.
Sadly, the Armstrongs’ experience is quite common.

A similar incident occurred in an Ohio cemetery, where the parents of a 14-month-old baby noticed items disappearing from their son’s grave.
After reporting instances of stolen lights and toys to the police, a surveillance camera was installed near the grave.

The camera captured footage of a woman removing items from the grave.
Shade defended her actions by claiming she was merely preventing a loose dog from damaging the toys.
Regardless of her justification, she was served a summons for petty theft.

These stories serve as a stark reminder of the importance of respecting the sanctity of graves and the feelings of others.
