Paralyzed bride told she’ll never walk again proves doctors wrong on wedding day

Brittney Bedwell wanted nothing more than to be able to walk down the aisle with her dad on her wedding day.

Sadly, Brittney and her young son were involved in an ATV accident four years ago that left her paralyzed. Thankfully, her son was ok, however, Brittney was told by doctors that she would never walk again. This news was devastating to her and her family.

“The doctor told me that I was never going to walk again and I didn’t want to believe that and I did for a while and I had depression and anxiety but once I got over that I just woke up one day and I just started feeling some stuff in my legs and I knew that I wasn’t over.” – Brittney Bedwell

Brittney’s newfound hope turned her frustration into determination.

Her fiance Glen proposed marriage while she was in recovery and now she set her sights on accomplishing one very important goal. She was going to do whatever it took to walk down the aisle with her dad on her wedding day.

“It’s really important to me because I got to watch my sisters walk down the aisle with him and I knew I wanted to do that so I had to push myself even harder.” – Brittney Bedwell

Brittney told WISH-TV that she had a huge support system around her that she could depend on. Her family and friends were rooting for her along the way and because of this, she wanted to work even harder.

“But I have my kids, I have my husband and I have my family and friends and they all are in my corner. So, I’m pushing for them because they’re pushing for me.”

Brittney was able to achieve her goal with hard work and a belief in herself.

“I already have therapy lined up for next week so I’m getting out of this chair.” – Brittney Bedwell

Her ability to get up out of the wheelchair is a testament to her relentless determination and her can-do attitude. She isn’t going to let much stop her and the joy on her face is proof of that.

Because of her injuries, Brittney was told she wouldn’t be able to have more kids, however, she is happy to say that she is four months pregnant.
