A six-year-old girl’s birthday party was saved unexpectedly by a group of cops after only one of her friends showed up. Alyson’s parents saved the day by inviting the police department to their daughter’s party.
There was no party before the cops arrived to save the day
We all know how important birthdays are to kids. Birthdays are very special to kids because they love parties, surprises, gifts, and to hang out with their friends. For many kids, their birthday is the most important day of the year and the one they look forward to more than anything else.
So it’s easy to see why little Alyson’s parents wanted to make her day special, which proved hard to do because only one of her friends showed up!
Someone call the cops, this party is just getting started
Alyson’s birthday party was held on a holiday weekend which is why only one of her friends were able to attend. Her parents were not willing to surrender so easily so they came up with a perfect idea to save the day.
Since Alyson loves police officers, they called the Lee’s Summit Police Department and the officers were happy to oblige!
“My husband and I thought it would be a good idea to call the police department and see if they could send an officer out,” said Tiffany Ante, Alyson’s mother.
The officers threw an unforgettable party
Twelve officers from Lee’s Summit Police showed up at Alyson’s party, more than her parents could’ve even hoped. Little Alyson had an unforgettable day. The officers let her sit in the back of the police car and she had a great time!
“It was very heart felt I had to hold back the tears at the party, honestly… it was very touching,” said Tiffany.
What promised to be a disappointing birthday for Alyson quickly turned into one of her happiest days ever. For the officers, it was a new and rewarding experience as Alyson proved to be a perfect host and very much interested to learn more about the police department.
The party was such a huge success that they ran out of birthday cake. Alyson’s mother thanked the police officers who saved their daughter’s party.
“We just think that everybody should know how wonderful they are,” she said.
Alyson and her mom baked cookies for the police department
It was not the end of the story, however. Alyson wanted to do something to thank the officers so she and her mom baked cookies and brownies and brought them to the police department. The officers were delighted by their act and used the opportunity to hang out with Alyson and her mom.
“It’s just awesome that she’s taken the time to think about us with all that’s going on in the world right now, it’s really neat,” officer Scot Collins said.
Alyson plans to become a police officer when she grows up, a dream that may come true one day. As for the officers from Lee’s Summit Police Department, we can only admire their commitment to the community and wish for other police departments across the country to follow their example.
