It’s not all the time that you witness something that reminds you of the good that humans can bring to a situation.

Thankfully, it seems that if the internet is good at doing one thing, it’s reminding us there is still positivity out there!

Thanks to a heartwarming clip uploaded by Humankind on YouTube, we can be reminded that humanity isn’t a lost cause, but a powerful force for good.

In Lakewood, Colorado, a dad and daughter duo had been living out of their broken-down SUV, totally down on their luck.

James Schweikhard and his 10-year-old had been living out of their car and were desperately in need of some help.

Everything the two owned was in the red SUV, and things could get really disorganized fast.

Even more, the SUV that was their home was also the vehicle that James took to work every day.

At least, it was until it broke down.

As if the struggling family needed another gut punch, their old SUV finally broke down one day while they were traveling.

Besides acting as their home, James had been using the vehicle to travel to work each day.

After the car broke down and he told his job, he was soon fired. It didn’t seem like the struggling family could catch a break.

Without a job, a working car, or a place to go, James and his daughter didn’t know what to do.

Life had never been harder.

“It’s tough. It’s really tough. Because I’ve got to look out for her as well as myself. I’ve got to make sure she’s good and taken care of.” – Humankind

Even worse, James noticed that a group of police officers was looking through the windows of his car as he approached it one day.

Fearing the worst, he approached and asked what the problem was.

Incredibly, the officers weren’t looking to force James to leave but instead wanted to help.

“I saw them looking at my truck, and I was like, ‘officers, what’s going on, why are you looking at my truck?’, and they said ‘well, we’re trying to help you.’ I could accept that, but I’m not used to getting help from cops. I’m really not.”

In a heartwarming moment, the police officers decided to help.

Paying for a tow truck to come and grab the car for free, they brought it to a local shop where they even paid for the car to be fixed!

In addition, the repair shop, Sun Valley Automotive, decided to pitch in as well.

Despite the rainy day and gloomy mood, there was a warm smile on James’ face.

Hearing the news that his car repairs were going to be taken care of meant the world to James.

The first thing he mentioned when he got the news? How he was going to be able to take care of his daughter better! Now THAT is a dad doing his best.

And while this seems like a happy ending to the story – things got even better for the small family. With the help of the community, James got a job, they were able to move into an apartment, and people donated items too.
