Craig Magby had been a Wal-Mart employee for some time. He was so excited when he purchased a bike in early 2020.
He knew that it would be very useful for him. In fact, for many months, he rode it back and forth to his work and when he needed to tend to other errands.
His bike helped him so much.
Before he reports for work, Magby would make sure that he locks his bike in a secure location.
One day, as he was ready to go home, even carrying some groceries, he noticed his bike wasn’t where he left it.
“I came out of the store, had my groceries in hand was expecting to go home on my bike. I got to the area where I had parked and locked my bike and my bike was gone,” Magby said in his interview with Fox 5.
His heart sank.
Magby had worked so hard for that bicycle, and he wasn’t getting any younger. That bike helped him with his daily travel, and now, someone stole it.
Hapeville Police Officer Dennis Rowe was on an off-duty job in Hapeville when he noticed Magby walking home from a whole day’s work at Wal-Mart.
Officer Rowe went up to him and asked him why he was walking. Surely, he must be tired from work, and he couldn’t believe what happened.
“He was kind of hot and sweaty. We got to talking, and he was explaining to me that he normally rides his bike home from work, and it was recently stolen from him. Since the bike was stolen, he gets himself back and forth to work by walking,” the kind officer told Fox 5.
After talking to Magby, his story really touched the kind officer. Then one thought crossed his mind, he had a spare bike.
A few months back, Officer Rowe also bought a bike that he used for his camping trip whenever he had time.
Since then, that bicycle had been sitting in his driveway. He wasn’t using it as much as before, so he knew what he had to do.
When Magby told Officer Rowe about how his bike was stolen from him, he didn’t say or promise anything. He listened and then they parted ways. Though, at the back of his mind, he knew what he had to do.
Magby and the kind officer met for a reason.
After ensuring that his bike is still in good condition, Officer Rowe set out to make a very special delivery.
He went to Magby and gave him his bike.
Now, Magby won’t have to walk back and forth just to go to work.
“When I saw something that I had that I wasn’t using, and there was somebody that desperately could use it every day, I knew that I had to make that happen for him. It was just part of the way I was raised, the way I was brought up, to give back and to give where I can,” the kind Officer said when asked why he gave the bike to someone he didn’t really know.
For Rowe, meeting Magby was an opportunity to help, and that’s what he did.
Of course, Magby was so touched by the officer’s kind gesture. He even said that Officer Rowe was a God-sent.
Magby revealed that he constantly prayed to God to help him with his struggles. And guess what? He did.
“I had talked to God about it. He was like consider it done and he sent Officer Rowe my way. I’m grateful, thankful,” Magby said, smiling.
