It seems like the world is going crazy right now. But at the same time, that doesn’t mean there aren’t good people still doing their best to help others. Some individuals feel called to lend a hand when they see someone in need.

While some people volunteer at local food banks, others donate their money to a good cause. But then, others go out of their way to do something nice for someone they don’t even know. No matter what the case might be, when you hear about one of these stories, it’s hard not to feel encouraged.

One story went viral

This story involved a police officer. His name is Robert Sacks and he lives in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was just doing his normal job, driving behind businesses to ensure that nobody was doing something they shouldn’t.

Buying food

Officer Sacks picked up some lunch from the nearby Chick-Fil-A restaurant and decided to go back to where he saw the homeless man. When he got there, he asked if the guy wanted to have lunch with him. So, the two of them sat down and ate a sandwich.

Like old friends

The two men talked about their love of baseball and their favorite teams. Officer Sacks said, “We were talking about his team being the Baltimore Orioles and I like the Yankees. We were talking about when we were kids, the team that we liked and the player.”

Capturing the incident

Officer Sacks wasn’t doing this for attention. He simply wanted to make this man’s day better. But, unbeknownst to him, someone took a picture of the two of them sharing lunch.

The post went viral

It didn’t take long for the post to end up on the “Living in Lynchburg” Facebook group. From there, a lot of people saw the picture and then shared it with others. That’s how the story got out, even though neither man was counting on being in the spotlight.

No interview, please

While Officer Sacks got plenty of airtime, Chris didn’t want to be interviewed. He was worried for his safety if he appeared on camera. But he did told the reporters that he’d been homeless for about a year.

No divide

According to Chris, it didn’t matter that Sacks was a police officer. He understood this cop was just doing his job and wanted to do something nice for him. It only mattered that Sacks was human.
