I've never seen something like it.

Everyone needs a helping hand sometimes, even police officers.

While a police officer’s role is to maintain law and order and protect citizens, there are times when they also need a citizen’s help and protection in the line of duty.

In White Settlement, Texas, a good Samaritan made it to the news for helping those who usually help us.

Two police officers were on duty and discovered a man driving a stolen car. When they pulled him over to try to arrest him, he ran away.

Of course, the two officers immediately chased him on foot.

But in the Texas heat, this is no easy feat, especially when you’re also carrying about 20 pounds of equipment.

The video of the two officers chasing the suspect were caught on their body cams.

“Again, it’s hot. And the gear these guys wear, it weighs over 20 pounds. Sometimes, you know, our cardio, some of us have better than cardio than others,” the police representative said during a press conference about the incident.

During the chase, the heat got to one of the officers, and he began tiring out while the other officer stayed on the suspect.

The second officer fell behind the suspect.

Fortunately, Jimmy Davis, an ex-security guard, happened to be driving by in his blue sedan.

He saw the police officer running and decided to help him out.

“I said, ‘Sir, would you want a ride?’ He goes, ‘Yeah man, let me in,'” Davis told KHOU 11.

The officer jumps into the sedan’s back seat, and Davis continues driving toward the other officer and the suspect.

The officer tells Davis he appreciates the ride, and they continue the chase in the car.

They head to where the other police officer, Officer Samuel Brown has caught up with the suspect and is about to cuff him on the ground.

“I see Porter jump out of the car, and it’s pretty funny,” Office Brown said.

You can hear the other officer in the video saying, “Had to get a taxi, don’t mind me.”

Both officers then help each other to finally arrest the runaway suspect.

But there’s even more to this story than a citizen helping a police officer out.

Officer Brown, the officer who continued running after the suspect, only has one arm.

He was born without the lower part of his left hand.

He’s also fresh out of the police academy, a new hire, and this was his first foot chase.

It’s amazing that even with the challenges he’s had in his life, he’s able to succeed and even surpass expectations in a new role.

We love this story because it shows the best parts of humanity – helping out others when they are in need and the ability to overcome challenges, no matter how daunting they seem.

The suspect in this case was charged with three felonies and the stolen car was returned to its owner.
