As parents, it’s up to us to keep our children safe while on the road – whether we’re driving them to baseball practice or daycare.
Unfortunately, we can’t control what other motorists do, but we can give our kids the best levels of safety by driving carefully and using car seats for little ones.
Statistics show that car seats can reduce the risk of death for toddlers by up to 45% and up to 71% for infants.

In short, car seats make a major difference, so it’s no surprise that cops try to do all they can to educate parents on the importance of keeping kids safe in cars.
So when Andrella Jackson got pulled over by Officer Kevin Zimmerman, the officer immediately pointed out that she didn’t have safe seating for her young ones.

The mom explained that she was struggling financially, with multiple kids to look after, and couldn’t afford car seats to keep them safe. Officer Zimmerman was touched by Andrella’s story and, as a father himself, had only one thing in mind: he wanted to help.

Officer Zimmerman could have given Andrella a ticket and walked away, but instead, he chose a different route.
He visited the local Walmart, picking up a couple of brand new car seats, and then delivered them directly to Andrella’s home.

He paid for the seats with his very own money, and he even went one step further, offering to install the seats in Andrella’s car for her. She shared the story on Facebook, writing:
“GOT PULLED OVER FOR KIDS’ NOT BEING IN A CARSEAT AND HE WENT IN BOUGHT AND ALSO INSTALLED THEM IN MY CAR❤ MY GIRL’S COULDN’T STOP THANKING HIM AND IT MADE THEM SMILE”
When interviewed later, Officer Zimmerman said he wasn’t trying to be a hero, just doing the right thing.
“I didn’t do this to be praised… I did it because I’m a parent and I didn’t want nothing to happen to these kids… I was trained by the academy and my parents to do the right thing even if no one is looking.”
Even if Officer Zimmerman didn’t expect anything in return for this wonderful act of kindness, he still deserves all of our respect and has received messages from people around the world who have been impressed by his actions.
The Milwaukee Police Department even posted a special message on their Facebook page in honor of this officer:
“Thank you Officer Zimmerman for going the extra mile and going above and beyond your call of duty.”

Mom Andrella was very appreciative of the officer’s generosity, and because of it – she’d be able to purchase winter essentials for her children.
She told TMJ4 News:
“Now, I’m able to finish getting coats. That saved me 70 something dollars [for] buying coats and hats and gloves. He’s awesome. I really love him. I really appreciate everything he did for me.”
