Normally, when we think of nuns, we don’t think of epic dance moves. They are thought of as being entirely dedicated to traditional forms of study, never letting their energy break loose.
But these sisters are out to break down all your stereotypes about nuns.
Everything begins quite slowly. All the dancers have their backs turned to the camera before gradually turning around.
They all do some slow, sweeping movements as they get warmed up, dancing along to the sentiment of the song. As they turn all the way around, they do a few more sweeping motions and a turn before settling in.
As the notes picked up, however, their bodies broke out of their stiffness and began to flow with the rhythm. The performance seemed peaceful and serene – until about halfway through.
Suddenly, these sisters came to life. The beat kicked in and their feet started tapping.
They excitedly jumped back and forth to the repetitious chant “I love Him!” with big smiles on their faces.
While all the classes are different, this one was inspired by the movie Sister Act.
In it, Whoopie Goldberg starring as a lounge singer who stays with a convent in a witness protection program. In the meantime, however, she trains the convent to become better singers and brings them new inspiration. In the finale of the movie, the convent performs “I Will Follow Him” in front of a packed house including the pope.
While the pope probably hasn’t seen this performance, we think it’s definitely worth watching!
The best part of the whole performance was the energy the nuns carried as they grooved to the rhythm. Since they varied in age, it was even more wonderful to see them all come together and bring their full energies to the dance floor.

What started out as a normal-seeming routine quickly became a surprising performance full of thrills.
Towards the end, they all start clapping and jumping before lining up for a grand finale. Together, all the women make a tunnel, some kneeling and some standing. They strike a pose and the performance is over.
“Wow! What an awesome way to glorify God with your whole mind heart and soul and body,” exclaimed an impressed commenter.
Needless to say, the dance has gotten worldwide attention.
In fact, it has now been viewed well over 2 MILLION times on YouTube!
These nuns certainly proved that you don’t have to give up your vitality in order to join the church.
These sisters worked their butts off to put on an exciting performance, and their hard work paid off. Your friends won’t be able to stop laughing as they watch these nuns shake it to the beat.
