What do homeless people need? Free or affordable housing, free mental health services, and/or food?

Maybe, but Atlanta Falcons prospect Malik Willis wasn’t able to offer that.

He only offered what he had. And what he had was some Nike gear.

While visiting Indianapolis, for the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium, he had visited a Nike store.

On his way, he saw a homeless woman and her son sitting on a milk crate.

“I walked past her on the way to the Nike suite and I chopped it up with them and I walked out with a suitcase and whatnot,” he said during an NFL broadcast.

“And I felt bad because I saw her son. It was a pregnant lady and she was homeless. And I was just like, ‘Shoot, I don’t have no money, but I can give you a couple of shirts.'”

So, Willis kneeled down and pulled out some shirts and gave them to the woman.

“I just felt like I had to do that,” he said. “I mean, I’m at a position right now where I’m not worried about much of anything except getting better. So, if I can help her out any way, I felt like I had to,” Willis said.

He had no idea that someone was not only watching him but filming him too.

“Was having lunch yesterday and saw one of the Combine guys helping out someone on some hard times… Malik Willis being great even when nobody is watching. How can you not be a fan of this guy?”

But Willis wasn’t trying to be great or doing this as a cheap low-brow promotional stunt to plug Nike or boost his chances at becoming a draft pick.

Being great for someone like Willis, apparently just comes naturally.

“I just felt like I had to do that,” he said. “I mean, I’m at a position right now where I’m not worried about much of anything except getting better. So, if I can help her out anyway, I felt like I had to,” Willis concluded.

We’re used to seeing Willis be great on the field.

Sports Illustrated says he “powered through bad weather and blistering rain to show his strong arm and mobility in front of scouts.”

And he’s humble about what he does on and off the field.

“When asked if he believed he was the top passer in the 2022 class, Willis remained humble, stating while he trusts his skills, that’s for teams to decide. ‘I don’t make those decisions,’ Sports Illustrated quoted Willis as saying.

Again, Willis says that he doesn’t have a choice in the matter either way.

“I mean, you’re the face of the franchise, literally. You’re the face of the city. So, you’ve got to understand everything that comes with that and making sure you’re doing all the right things and making sure you’re doing your job,” Willis said.
