Rachel Taylor, 22, definitely will never forget her wedding day. She and her husband met in 2012 and have spent the past eight years growing closer together.

Hours after exchanging vows with her sweetheart Calvin on Father’s Day, the nurse found herself saving someone’s life.

Some lifesaving superheroes wear capes. This one wore her bridal gown.

The Minnesota couple were married in a small, meaningful outdoor ceremony. They were heading home from their wedding and social event when they stumbled upon an accident ahead of them in South St. Paul.

They pulled over and Rachel hopped out. She rushed up to the scene, her gorgeous gown swishing all around her, to see how she could help.

“I saw a couple of people dragging a woman over to the side of the road. I could see a gash in her right leg. I think I saw her bone in it.”

It turned out that Tammy Peterson’s son was involved in a fender bender that happened first. Tammy was in her kitchen with her daughter when she received a phone call from her son’s dad alerting her to the accident.

She jumped in her vehicle and took off to make sure her son was okay. She arrived at the scene of his accident to assist him and check out the damage.

Tammy was barely on the scene when a second serious accident unfolded. A black Chevy SUV slid through the intersection and hit the back of her van, causing a pile-up.

Tammy had become frighteningly pinned between the vehicles. She began to panic, pain searing through her broken leg, when she noticed Rachel, a figure dressed in white, gliding toward her.

“I remember her walking up saying, ‘My name is Rachel, I’m a nurse.'”

Rachel drew upon her experience from nursing school when she assisted laboring moms in the throes of pain and kept Tammy calm and still until emergency crews arrived.

“I got pretty good at talking them through and calming them down. So, I was saying a lot of the same things. I just went into nurse mode.”

Tammy said Rachel’s presence and demeanor were a Godsend.

“She kept me calm. … I think she helped save my life even more, you know, just physically and mentally being there at that time.”

Calvin, 23, photographed his “rock-star” wife and posted the ordeal on Facebook. People can’t stop raving over what a blessing Rachel surely was for stopping to assist an injured woman while still in her glistening wedding gown.

“On our way back to our home after an amazing and beautiful wedding day, literally blocks from our new home, we saw a large SUV crash into another accident involving three other vehicles. As we pulled over, we saw people pulling a woman from between two cars with a gash in her leg that went down to her femur. My rock star of a bride gets out of the car, wedding dress and all, and rushes over to help while I called 911.”

He described how Rachel cradled Tammy the entire time they waited for emergency personnel to arrive.

“She held her for at least 15 minutes until the EMTs got her on a stretcher. I am so blessed to have a wonderful wife who will always take care of people who need it, and we were blessed that we were able to be in the right place at the right time to make a difference.”

Tammy’s daughter Amber set up a GoFundMe page to help her mom deal with her medical bills.

“My mom was the only major injury and she wasn’t even there for a full minute!! Thank God she’s alive!!”

Rachel and Calvin ended up going on a honeymoon to Montana the next day and Tammy continued to recover from her injuries. Tammy still can hardly believe what her hero did.

“I am still blown away that she got out of the car in a scary situation to do what she does best. I can’t wait for a hospital to scoop her up so she can make a difference in people’s lives every day.”

How amazing and selfless is this up and coming nurse! Thank goodness for angels on earth.
