In an emotional Facebook post just three weeks before Christmas, Haley Parke narrated the moment of how she lay her newborn son on the chest of her husband JB who was taking his last breaths.
With the post now having 119k likes and rising, Parke welcomed her second son into the world while knowing her husband only had a few moments left with them.
Jb Parke was experiencing complications due to cancer. He was given a 6-month prognosis but his life expectancy had changed from months to days. the baby still had three weeks before coming out.
Haley had to make the difficult decision to induce labor so she could give her husband an opportunity to meet his new son.
JB’s health began to deteriorate on the morning of Dec. 2 and with time not on her side, Haley made the brave decision to have a C-section instead.
“With out a question in my mind, I said “Let’s go” and we did just that. In a matter of literally one minute, I was in the OR, and in just a short 20 minutes later, our son was born. He was given to me for a quick kiss, and then a team of doctors and nurses ran him up 2 floors, and he was placed on his daddy’s chest.”
Haley shared in a part of her post.
The team of doctors and nurses helped deliver Haley’s second son as quickly as possible in twenty minutes, and as soon as the baby was out, they rushed the child up two floors where they placed him on his father’s chest.
“The miracle of all this? When our baby was placed on Jb’s chest, Jb’s vitals all instantly improved. He was also acknowledging our son was there by making small head movements and sweet moans.” She continued.
Haley, as strong and as tough as she is, was immediately stitched up and brought to her husband so they could share one more beautiful moment together.
And there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
Husband and wife locked eyes for the last time, a love so powerful no words were needed. And as JB took his last breath, Haley remained in awe of her husband’s strength. The man she loves and will love forever.
“I put my trust in God that this was part of his plan, and I did what I had to do, out of love, to fulfill my husband’s last wish,” Haley explained.
JB met his angel. His precious son who prepared him for his journey to heaven.
“God prepared our son for this very moment because he came out weighing 7lbs 4oz at 20in long, with fully developed lungs that let out the sweetest of cries,” Haley said.
The couple had no names picked out but Haley knew in her heart that it was only fitting to honor her husband. And their story may be one filled with sadness, but there is also hope.
