There are a lot of beautiful moments at a wedding, but one special instance in particular that stands out is the mother son dance. The mother and son dance is one of the last times the two share a moment before her son brings a new woman into his life. It’s said that how a man treats his mother reflects how he will treat his future wife, and based on the relationship between this mother and son, his new wife is one lucky lady.
This mother and son start off their dance like any other, the groom pulls his mom in close and the two start to sway to a slow ballad. But just when everyone was sure that was all it was going to be, the two parted and the music shifted.
Instead of a loving ballad, the DJ played “The Twist, a staple song at any wedding no matter what time of night. The duo busted a move to the song. The guests cheer and start to pull out their phones, because this is something that needs to be shared.
Suddenly “The Twist” cuts out and is replaced by “Stayin Alive”. Standing beside each other now, the pair begin to 70s stye dance to the new song. They’re by no means professionals, but their moves look like something out of Saturday Night Fever.
Once they get their groove on to “Stayin Alive”, they get everyone in the room to clap their hands along to the song that begins to play. All we hear is the sound of the fiddle, but mother and son have formed their own line dance and begin todo the Cotton Eyed Joe all on their own.
Mom then holds her own as the genre moves from country to hip-hop and the pair do the stanky leg. Everyone is impressed that mom can move justas good as her son, despite being in a dress and stiletto heels.
After the country and hip-hop routines, they move on to another top 40 hit by Bruno Mars. Then they move into a classic for the last song with a waltz to “A wonderful World”. Its’s clear that this wedding mashup is coming to an end as they move back into a song meaningful to the both of them. To finish up the impressive number the son dips his mother, and they bow to the crowd.
