Although super sweet, often times, mother-son wedding dances are overlooked. On the other hand, father-daughter dances are the big star of the show — aside from the bride and groom’s first dance, of course.
Most of the time, mother-son dances are pretty standard. The mother of the groom stands up with her son and they enjoy a sweet few minutes of swaying back and forth together. It’s a time for her to remember the new husband as her little boy.
But one mother of the groom decided she didn’t roll that way.
Now, she and her son are going viral for their amazing dance moves.
When they stood up together, the guests expected nothing unusual. In fact, they started out just by dancing together to Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide. It was a sweet moment. Then, it all changed.
Suddenly, “Let’s Do The Twist” broke out.
Mother and son didn’t miss a beat. They immediately broke it down and started twisting in perfect rhythm.
But that was far from the end of their amazing routine. Next up was Stayin’ Alive by The BeeGees. The two of them looked like they were having the time of their lives. By the sound of it, the crowd was pretty impressed by their moves. And when the video finally made it to the internet, people were amazed.
“Awe this was adorable!” said one commenter.
“Even though my son’s only 15. Boy, this would be amazing to do with him at his wedding. He’s an only child so I have to cherish all the small and big moments! [sic]”
People were in awe that the groom’s mother could dance so well…while wearing 4-inch heels.
“I was terrified because of her shoes,” said one commenter. “I can barely dance barefoot, yet she dances in heels. I applaud her.”
The full dance routine went from ballroom to pop and back again.
It was an impressive feat for the mother and groom, who gave it everything they had. Of course, they weren’t only breaking it down to rock and pop songs. They also did a country homage with a routine to Cotton-Eyed Joe.
“Gooooooo mama!!!” said one commenter. “If my kiddos get married, I hope I can do a fun dance with them like this!! Very inspiring!!! And in those heels! You go girl!!”
They tied it all up with some more modern viral dance crazes — yes, there was a performance of the Stanky Leg.
“Aww, as a mother of a son this makes me teary-eyed and looking forward to seeing him grow up,” said a commenter. “Hopefully, he will dance with me too. Love this video!!!”
People were touched to see the love between this mother and her son, and well as how much fun they had together.
“Groovy mama’s never lose it!” said a commenter. “Very cool indeed to see the beautiful close affectionate mama/son relationship. [sic]”
It was clear to see how much the groom loved his mother and enjoyed spending time with her on his special day.
“The respect snd love this son is showing towards his mother will be how he will treat his bride, [sic]” said a commenter.
If that’s the case, he’s sure to have a long and happy marriage.
