Life is hard for everyone, especially in these trying times. But rather than just ignoring the needs of our neighbors, it’s always nice to see that something positive is being done. This video shows that sometimes, all you need to improve someone’s day is the cost of a meal at McDonald’s.

Being a few dollars short can lead to…

Everyone has likely been in Brittany Reed’s shows. You’re at the checkout counter when you realize you’re a few dollars short, or worst, that you left your wallet at home.

Few people feel comfortable asking for help, since it’s easy to assume that no one will. This leaves her with the option to cancel an order. This is embarrassing enough, especially if you think you’ve wasted everyone’s time.

She was so apologetic for a simple little accident

Brittany Reed, mother of three, was at McDonalds one day ordering a meal. But just as the order was put in she reached down and realized that she left her wallet at home. She admits that she told the worker:

“I totally forgot my purse at home. I’m so sorry. I have to cancel my entire order.”

Luckily for Brittany, Wyatt was the young man behind the counter.

This young man jumped into action to save this mom an extra trip

But Wyatt Jones, the young man behind the counter, wouldn’t let that go. He just grabs his wallet and tells Brittany that he has it covered. He pays for the meal with his own debit card which left Brittany stunned. Brittany asks Wyatt what he’s doing but Wyatt insists that it’s perfectly fine. He has the money to spare and just wants to help.

The world had to know about this A+ human being

Brittany snapped a photo of the young man and took to Instagram to share the story. She explains that she was coming home from football practice with her children. Both children were having a rough day and were in tears. She recounts the story in this Instagram post:

So when she didn’t have her wallet, she was upset beyond belief. So Wyatt’s actions saved the day resulting in Brittany offering her prayers and hoping it would reach Wyatt’s parents.

As you can guess, the kind gesture didn’t go unrewarded.

A mother’s reward

After Wyatt’s mom, Lisa Jones, discovered the story, she asked her son about why he didn’t tell her about it. Wyatt simply said that “He was just lending a hand and it wasn’t a big deal.” So Lisa took to the news to ensure that his kindness didn’t go unnoticed.

Why acts of kindness should be celebrated

It’s important to recognize the kindnesses that we give and receive. As Brittany says:

“The world’s kind of scary right now…and so stuff like when you hear about someone being kind for no reason is, unfortunately not the norm all the time.”

For a young man who didn’t see his act as a big deal, knowing that he’s made a difference is the best kind of reward.
