What started out as a trip back home from Houston to Victoria, Texas quickly became something more, the birth of husband-and-wife Sergio Mancera and Kaitlyn Fullerton’s second child. Thinking she had to simply use the bathroom, the couple stopped at a gas station along the way.

Meanwhile, her husband and 3-year-old son waited in the car. Soon, though, Fullerton realized that she was having to do more than use the restroom. That was when the unthinkable happened.

“We got further along the road and I felt like I needed to start pushing, well I thought I needed to go to the bathroom,” Fullerton told ABC 13. “I kept on feeling like a water pressure…. because whenever I stood up, my water broke.”

She quickly realized that her water had broken and that she was going into labor. Her baby was coming whether she was ready or not.

“I was standing up the whole time,” Fullerton said. “I felt the head and then he just came right out and I like grabbed him. I was holding him right here close to me and that’s when somebody outside the restroom was like, ‘Do you need help?'”

The person was able to flag down Fullerton’s husband in the parking lot. To say he was shocked was an understatement.

“I looked up, saw a woman saying, ‘Hey, your wife just gave birth,’ and I was like, ‘What!?'” Mancera recalled.

Mancera was able to video his wife holding their child in a blanket after she had given birth. They posted the video to TikTok where it has gotten over 1.7 million views.

The hardest part for Fullerton was delivering the placenta, which she didn’t do until she reached the hospital. She says that is when it really began to hurt, even more so than when she delivered her baby.

A miracle birth

“It’s just really a miracle. Yeah, it was like a miracle,” the couple said. “It’s like God was right there really watching over us.”
